The Modern Hotel is seeking a part-time Maintenance Technician to join our team immediately. The shifts for this position are 3 - 4 days a week for a total of 20 - 25 hours / week. The Maintenance Technician's role requires a person who is organized and proactive. They will be responsible for the hotels infrastructure and ensuring the premises remain safe and functioning at all times. Experience with electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems is essential.

The Maintenance Technician's goal will be to ensure the hotel premises are safe and functioning - in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner - resulting in a very high level of guest and staff satisfaction.

Compensation is $15 / hour

Job Responsibilities (Include but not limited to):

- Inspect hotel regularly to ensure it meets safety standards

- Perform routine maintenance in hotel rooms, lobby and facilities

- Grounds maintenance, including lawn mowing, trimming and blowing

- Organize and perform repair projects in a manner that does not disturb guests

- Help plan and oversee renovations and construction

- Act fast to resolve emergency issues (e.g. power outages)

- Find ways to reduce hotel operating costs and conserve energy

- Manage relationships with contractors and service providers

- Maintain budgets, expenses and activity logs

- Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements / Qualifications:

- Ability to function and be courteous in a diverse work environment

- Proven experience in hotel maintenance

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations

- Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, sewer and HVAC systems

- Experience in administrative processes and internet applications

- Ability to spot safety risks and address needs quickly

- Problem-solving aptitude

- Excellent organizational and communication skills

- Ability to learn computer functions and other on-the-job skills
