TITLE: IT Support & Repairs Technician:
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Technical certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Google IT Support Professional) or equivalent experience preferred.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support, device repair, or related field, preferably in a K-12 environment
B. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
2. Experience with repairing Chromebooks, laptops, tablets, and other endpoint devices.
3. Familiarity with educational technology systems and applications.
4. Knowledge of warranty and insurance processes, including claims management.
5. Proficiency with inventory and asset management tools.
6. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
7. Proficiency using and troubleshooting a variety of software such as device operating systems and desktop productivity applications (Office365 etc.)
8. Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines.
C. Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
2. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and working with computers.
3. Frequent travel between school sites within the district.
D. Have regular and predictable attendance.
E. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: IT Endpoints Administrator
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
To facilitate the use of technology in various school programs; install, troubleshoot, and help maintain technology hardware and software throughout the district; and provide training and in-service to school staff regarding the uses of technology in education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Technical Support and Repairs:
1. Provide Tier 2 support for endpoint devices and educational technology systems, resolving escalated issues from Tier 1 support.
2. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hardware and software issues on devices such as Chromebooks, laptops, tablets, and peripherals.
3. Collaborate with the Endpoints Administrator to develop and implement efficient repair processes.
B. Warranty and Device Insurance Management:
1. Administer the district's device warranty program, ensuring timely and accurate processing of warranty claims.
2. Oversee the device insurance program, including communication with stakeholders, processing claims, and tracking program metrics.
C. Inventory and Asset Management:
1. Maintain accurate records of all device repairs, warranty claims, and insurance activity.
2. Assist with the deployment, tracking, and inventory of district-owned devices and peripherals.
3. Oversee the management of parts inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels to support operations. Build and maintain strong relationships with parts vendors, negotiate terms, and ensure procurement processes align with financial responsibility by researching and securing the best value for the organization.
D. Collaboration and Communication:
1. Work closely with the Endpoints Administrator, field IT team (FIT), and other IT team members to provide seamless technology support across the district.
2. Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents regarding repair and insurance processes.
E. Professional Development:
1. Stay current with trends and best practices in educational technology and device repair.
2. Participate in training opportunities to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
F. Other Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the development and documentation of repair and support procedures.
2. Provide support for district-wide technology initiatives and projects as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The exact terms will be determined by the District and budgetary constraints. This is currently a full-time position scheduled for 8 hours per day, 244 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 11-12 ($23.22 - $25.62/hour) DOE.
