MFC Manager of ProjectsIdaho National Laboratory (INL) is hiring a Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Manager of Projects to work in our MFC Projects division reporting to the MFC Projects Division Director. Our team works a 4x10 schedule with every Friday off. If you want to be an integral part of enabling nuclear energy research and development, including deployment of next-generation nuclear reactors then this position is for you.Responsibilities Include:INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for the United States Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel development and fabrication, and post irradiation analysis. MFC plays an important role in supporting the National Reactor Innovation Center, which provides resources for testing, demonstration, and performance assessment to accelerate the deployment of new, advanced nuclear technology concepts.To support exponential project growth at MFC, the MFC Manager of Projects will provide strategic leadership and project management direction related to infrastructure investment projects, General Plant Projects (GPPs) and investments, reactor demonstration projects, line-item capital construction projects, and projects supporting MFC’s diverse research and development (R&D) portfolio. The Manager of Projects will oversee and provide leadership to division staff (project managers, project engineers, project controls analysts) who are leading projects from conceptual stage through planning, engineering, procurement, construction, startup, and project closeout. The Manager of Projects will help apply project execution methodologies, the implementation of new technologies, and support project management improvement that recognizes the unique rigor associated with performing work in MFC’s diverse set of nuclear and radiological facilities.The MFC Manager of Projects will help enable successful completion of the MFC project portfolio following applicable DOE standards, that projects align with customer (DOE and other) objectives, and that project management staff collaborate with operations and engineering to build project scope concurrent with ongoing critical mission work. Responsible to provide management recommendations to project management staff to enable project delivery while not affecting MFC’s nuclear facility operating posture. Responsible for technical comprehension of construction, nuclear operations, R&D, and business systems to assure project scope is accomplished, schedules are met, and work is completed within established schedule and budget targets. Has overall responsibility for project execution, budgets, and schedule; monitors progress and initiates actions to assure project objectives and schedules are met and work meets customer and management's performance expectations. Resolves problems and supports coordination of final project turnover to the customer. Coordinates overall MFC project portfolio to ensure appropriate staffing (internal and external) is available to meet mission objectives, including coordination with engineering, operations, procurement, and construction services (construction management, quality, safety, and environmental). Interacts with other INL directorates and Senior Leadership to plan projects to be performed at MFC, from initial proposal development through final closeout. Supports and interacts with DOE (local and HQ) personnel on investment strategies, project status of existing approved projects, lessons learned, and response to issues and questions. Provides leadership for building a project team including providing feedback, staff opportunities, career development, mentoring, etc. Helps set individual performance goals. Recognizes team members for their accomplishments and ensures that customers and applicable organizations are made aware of these accomplishments. Promotes an environment, to develop mutual trust and teamwork, and facilitates employee self-development. Reviews and approves Project Management Plans for assigned projects. Handles new situations deviating from established patterns and modes.Minimum Requirements:

MR0300: Bachelors Degree and 10 years in a technical or engineering discipline.

Must have experience working in nuclear environments with a depth of expertise in balancing research, engineering, and operations to maintain MFC’s nuclear facility operating posture.

Must demonstrate and enjoy working in a team environment, with collaboration of all levels, disciplines, and diverse cultural backgrounds of the organization.

Must hold a current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire date.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
