Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Neutronics Analyst to work in our Nuclear Science & Technology department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our EROB facility in Idaho Falls with every other Friday off.Our Neutronics Analyst will need to apply analytical techniques and tools to evaluate, understand, and explain nuclear interactions and behaviors. Neutronics analysis capability to enable the design, fabrication, irradiation, shipping, handling, and post irradiation examination (PIE) and investigation of irradiation experiments. Typically, these irradiation experiments are conducted in INL nuclear facilities such as the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR), the Transient Reactor Test (TREAT) Facility, or the Hot Fuel Examination Facility (HFEF).Apply scientific/engineering principles, theories and concepts to understand, explain and defend physical conditions and phenomena. Contribute to diverse engineering project teams and function as a subject matter specialist. Perform work under the direction and oversight to ensure correctness, completeness and quality of results. Work activities conducted to support established requirements, schedules, and budgets. Meet expectations to ensure accuracy, quality and completeness of input parameters, assumptions, calculations, analyses, models, results and deliverables.Specifically, performing calculations, creating models, evaluating and analyzing the entire life cycle of irradiation experiments. Using analytical tools (e.g. MCNP, SCALE, Mathcad, RELAP5) to achieve results. Perform work using high performance computer (HPC) systems. Learn and apply established facility-specific requirements to support all the irradiation experiment life cycle.An eager and engaged participant collaborating on diverse engineering project teams with the working both independently and as a team member. Taking direction from management, team members and peers and provide feedback to management, team members and peers. You are expected to improve and make positive impacts to cost, schedule, and discovery within the area of specialization. Also maintaining currency in relevant engineering and scientific literature and methods, prepare internal and external reports, contribute to peer-reviewed publications, prepare presentations, and present work status with results at technical meetings.Responsibilities Include:

Perform calculations and analysis of nuclear fuels and materials to support inpile experiment design and operation. Contribute to the development of techniques and capabilities to support inpile experiment design and analysis of nuclear fuels and materials.

Participate in collaborations and meetings with customers and project team members to discuss scope of work, research objectives, resources, milestones, results, and on-going research.

Contribute to the preparation of reports and peer reviewed publications. Present results. Perform technical checks and peer reviews.

Maintain currency in relevant scientific/engineering literature and enhance skills/laboratory capabilities in areas related to modern engineering design and analysis tools.

Support division business objectives through participation in proposal development.

Minimum Requirements: Degree in Nuclear Engineering or similar discipline is required.PR0200-Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience, or Master's Degree and 1 or more years of relevant experience, or Doctorate DegreePR0300-Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of relevant experience, or Master's Degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience or Doctorate Degree and 2 or more years of relevant experiencePreferred Experience:

Advanced degree in Nuclear Engineering or similar discipline

2 or more years of experience performing neutronics calculations for customers

2 or more years of experience supporting an operating nuclear facility

Experience using modeling and simulation codes such as MCNP, OpenMC, SCALE, or MC21

Experience using programming (e.g. FORTRAN, Python, C ) languages to pre/post process data

Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

Job Information: Salary Grade: PR0200 - 210 $95,928 - $158,232 / PR0300-220$110,316 - $181,956

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy L clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of experience.
