Reactor Project Electrical Engineer

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Reactor Project Electrical Engineer to work in our Reactor Project Engineering department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off.INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel development and fabrication through post irradiation analysis.Responsibilities Include:You will provides electrical engineering for a novel advanced reactor design project. Apply engineering principles to electrical systems and electrical power transmission and distribution as they relate to reactor design activities. Collaborate with associated engineering professions to ensure the development of integrated systems to enable safe,, reliable delivery of power to the end user.

Work with a diverse team of scientists and engineers on a novel advanced reactor design.

Decompose project goals into defined and controlled design requirements using a systems engineering approach and applying digital engineering tools for tracking requirements and design parameters.

Use design methodologies, technologies, and processes which are best practice for the technical discipline to develop a design, and to validate that the design meets defined requirements.

Apply electrical engineering theories and principles to develop designs for secure, sustainable, resilient, robust, reliable electrical power systems to support operating advanced nuclear reactors.

Apply sound engineering principles in the design of electrical power-related systems to support operating advanced nuclear reactors.

Collaborate with project team to develop functional and operation requirements, system design descriptions, and test procedures for equipment.

Use digital engineering tools to the maximum extent possible for design completion.

Collaborate with project team in developing system alternatives and analyze alternatives to ensure program requirements are met.

Establish and maintain configuration management of assigned system(s) while maintaining existing drawings and databases.

Create design of experiments including data acquisition, data collection in laboratory, and appropriate data reduction as dictated by project needs.

May be responsible for all electrical engineering aspects of project work, including identifying the equipment, services, space, personnel, work controls., required to implement given projects.

May oversee the design and maintenance of assigned high-risk electrical systems operations.

Maydirectothersorworkdirectlywithequipmentvendorstodiagnoseandrepair malfunctions and design and specify new equipment to meet customer requirements.

May direct and implement the application design, set-up, and basic operation of complex high power and high voltage equipment and systems.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's and 5 years of experience. Master's and 2 years of experience. PhD and 2 years of experience.

Bachelor's and 9 years of experience. Master's and 6 years of experience. PhD and 4 years of experience.

Relevant experience functioning as a project lead, project manager, or lead role determined by level

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information:

The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($91,008 - $186,588)/ Level 4 ($109,260 - $233,908). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
