2-Shop Technician
Summary of Duties
The Shop Technician will assist the Fleet Manager and support aircraft for powerline work, forest fire contracts, and other contracts as needed. This position reports to the Fleet Manager and performs duties maintaining and servicing fleet vehicles and helicopter and civil operations support equipment to maintain road and field use readiness. The position will also assist helicopter operations through safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment, company fleet vehicles, fueling aircraft, and hooking and removing long lines. The position requires confidence in and around helicopter operations, maintaining alertness to multiple concurrent activities, and a commitment to safe and conscientious commercial motor vehicle and heavy equipment operations.
Experience and proficiency in the following major areas:
Extensive experience in fleet management for maintenance and repair
Proficient at welding and fabricating
Coordinating and tracking fleet services, maintenance, and repairs
Experienced in safely operating trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings (GVWR) up to and over 26,000 lbs.
Experience operating equipment e.g., Excavator, Bulldozer, Water Truck
Knowledge of state and federal road regulation and laws
Hazardous materials transportation
DOT Hours of Service
Performing DOT vehicle inspections
Proficient at using GPS and other routing systems
KeepTruckin applications
Proficient computer skills
Excellent communication (oral and written)
Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities
Must be able to multi-task
Well-organized and reliable
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform inspections and preventative maintenance and service and repair on vehicles and support equipment to maintain road and field use readiness
Work closely with the Fleet Manager to oversee and schedule fleet maintenance and repairs, including body shops, cooling systems, tires, brakes, USFS required equipment
Perform welding and fabricating
Assist pre/post trip inspections, incident and accident reporting, as well as fueling procedures
Assist with tracking parts inventory and research parts availability
Maintain and coordinate work orders, check invoices vs. work orders
Identify areas of improvements, negligence, and wrongful handling of general safety and company vehicles and suggest new techniques to enhance current practice
Identify areas of improvement, suggest new techniques to save costs, and enhance the lifetime of vehicles and equipment
Assist with dispatching, routing, and tracking vehicles
Ensure dispatching trucks are equipped with the necessary equipment for assigned contract(s)
Safely and conscientiously utilize and operate all fleet trucks, vehicles, and equipment, observing all law and industry standards of operation and use to complete assigned tasks and responsibilities
Maintain state-issued Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Hazmat, Tanker, and Air Brakes endorsements
Drive trucks transporting hazardous materials
Operate a variety of excavation equipment and water trucks
Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
Ensure vehicles and equipment are clean inside and outside and maintained accordingly
Support aircraft for powerline work, fire contracts, and other contracts as required through refueling aircraft, hooking and removing long lines, and other ground support duties as assigned
Track fuel quantities and order when needed
Comply with DOT regulations
Participate in out-of-town travel, work, and overtime work, as required
Positively represent Lohman Helicopter through a professional and favorable appearance to the public and to the companies and entities that we work with
Satisfactorily complete all company mandated and assigned training classes and training courses within given time limits
Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the landing zone, including the activities of other employees and contractors, and the movement of equipment/helicopters
Must be self-motivated, disciplined, dependable, and resourceful, with a can-do attitude
Maintain a consistent, open, and honest line of communication with your supervisor
Maintain DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
Make safety a priority at all times
Other Duties as Assigned
Due to the nature of small business operations, it will be necessary to fulfill task requirements of varied nature.
Qualifications/Licenses
Valid Class A CDL
Tanker Endorsement
Hazmat Endorsement
Air Brakes Endorsement
Valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
Clean driving record with no moving violations
Must pass a background check and DOT drug test
Prepared to travel within the operational region
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
High level of composure and good stress management
Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
Strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks
Compensation
Employment Status: W2
Base Pay: $24.00-$35.00 per hour DOE, Certifications and Licenses
Group Health & Dental: Employer paid for employee; option for employee to insure family members

Out of Town Per Diem: $55.00 per day
Travel and Out of Town Lodging: Company paid and arranged
Overtime: Being willing to work overtime is a requirement. Overtime must be approved.
Schedule: Truck Shop in Lewiston, Idaho, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasionally the Shop Technician will be required to work varied shifts to support aircraft for powerline work, forest fire contracts, excavation/civil, and other contracts assigned throughout the United States, Canada, and other selected sites.
