Position Summary: About CWI: The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is a rapidly growing two-year institution committed to providing high-quality education and training opportunities to its diverse student population. The Department of Health Sciences and Public Health plays a vital role in preparing students for careers in the health and wellness industries as well as for transferring to a four-year institution.CWI is seeking an experienced and passionate instructor to join its Department of Health Science and Public Health. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2024. This faculty position will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses in person and online in the Exercise Science program, managing the Health and Human Performance lab, and serving as a faculty advisor for the Exercise is Medicine club. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to student success and a passion for promoting health and wellness through education. This position is an on-site position that requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at a CWI site, campus, or facility.Essential Functions: Instruction Teach courses including, but not limited to, Introduction to Kinesiology (EXHS-200), Cultural, Historical, and Philosophical Foundations of Physical Activity (EXHS-201), Applied Kinesiology (EXHS-243), Exercise Physiology (EXHS-290), and Exercise Physiology Lab (EXHS-290L). Manage and maintain the Health and Human Performance lab, ensuring proper equipment and resource availability for student learning and faculty needs. Serve as a faculty advisor for the Exercise is Medicine club, providing guidance and support to club members. Participate in course and program design, assessment, and curriculum development initiatives within the department. Contribute to departmental and college-wide committees and initiatives as required. Maintain weekly office hours. Teach a course load of 15 contact hours per term for the fall and spring semesters.Institutional Engagement Pursue professional opportunities and relationships to improve student, personal, and school success. Contribute to, collaborate in, and develop school-level initiatives. Contribute to planning and/or assessment at the department/program and the school’s level.Professional Development Collaborate with supervisors and dean to determine how one’s professional expertise andinterests contribute to the school’s success.Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, or a closely related field. College-level teaching experience. Resident of Idaho living in the Treasure Valley region or able to relocate to this region before the start date. Experience teaching in multiple modalities such as in-person, synchronous/asynchronous online, hybrid, and/or hyflex. Knowledge and experience in the use and building of LMS course shells.
