Job Title: Warehouse WorkerJob DescriptionWork in a large industrial hardware distribution center, performing general warehouse duties across several departments and shifts, including inventory control, shipping, receiving, order filling, and stocking. Use RF scan guns, headsets, forklifts, and other equipment.Responsibilities
SHIPPING: Start times at 8AM or 10AM. This is the most physical department, offering a differential pay rate. Responsibilities include sorting, scanning, checking merchandise, and ensuring products are loaded onto the proper pallet/truck for customer delivery. Tasks involve taking totes off the conveyor, scanning, building pallets, stacking items safely, wrapping the pallet, and loading onto the truck with a pallet jack. Loading larger items such as ladders and pipes, operating a handheld scanner, and getting certified in electric power jack and forklift are required. Frequent lifting and carrying of 0-70lbs, occasionally over 70lbs, with constant twisting, bending, squatting, and reaching.
RECEIVING: Start times at 3AM or 6AM. Responsibilities include unloading incoming trucks and rebuilding pallets. Scan and receive inbound merchandise, unload containers by forklift, pallet jack, or by hand. Tasks involve unloading trucks, breaking down pallets, sorting items by department, re-palletizing, wrapping, and preparing items for transport to the right area in the distribution center. Verify pallet count and receiving labels, operate handheld scanners, and deliver scanned merchandise to appropriate staging areas. Constant lifting and carrying of 20-50lbs, occasionally over 50lbs, with constant bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
STOCKING: Start times at 3:00AM, 4:50AM, 8AM, or 10AM. Responsibilities include moving merchandise to different points throughout the distribution center, placing products on appropriate shelves, and stocking inbound merchandise in designated locations. Use power equipment (reach truck) for heavier items and unpack and place smaller items on shelves. Operate handheld scanners and transfer merchandise using a stand-up reach truck, sit-down forklift, stock picker, and/or pallet jack. Frequent lifting and carrying of 20-50lbs, occasionally over 50lbs, with frequent bending and reaching, occasional twisting, crawling, climbing, and kneeling.
REPACK ORDER FILLERS: Start time at 5AM. Responsibilities include picking smaller items and filling totes using a headset in a fast-paced environment with less heavy lifting. Tasks involve picking merchandise located in the Mod, labeling each carton, scanning, and filling boxes/totes with products. Place filled totes onto the conveyor belt for shipping. Tasks are timed (24 seconds to pick each item), which may involve running or jogging. Frequently lift 0-50lbs+, occasionally carry 20-50lbs, with frequent bending, twisting, and climbing.
FULL CASE ORDER FILLERS: Start time at 5AM. Responsibilities include picking heavier merchandise and larger items for orders using power equipment. Tasks involve driving a stock picker, reach truck, or forklift with a trailer, manually pulling cases off shelves, placing them onto the trailer bed, and unloading items onto a conveyor. Label products, identify units of measure, and account for damaged merchandise. Constant lifting and carrying of 50-60lbs+, with constant bending, twisting, stooping, and reaching, and occasional climbing.
INVENTORY CONTROL: Start time at 4:45AM. Responsibilities include auditing daily inventory reports, performing physical audits, investigating inventory-related inaccuracies, and resolving problems. Prepare shipments for return to vendors, communicate with vendors and buyers, provide customer service, and prepare defective merchandise for disposition. Excellent data entry and computer skills required, experience with Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets, and good math and reading skills. Constant lifting/carrying under 20lbs, occasionally lifting/carrying 20-50lbs, frequent bending and squatting, occasional twisting, kneeling, crawling, and climbing.
Essential Skills
Experience with shipping and receiving, order picking, RF scanner, and order pulling.
Power equipment/Forklift/Reach truck/Order picker experience is a huge plus.
Prior warehouse experience preferred but not required.
Experience in fast-paced jobs or heavy labor jobs is beneficial.
Excellent data entry and computer skills required for inventory control roles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous power equipment/forklift and scan gun experience preferred.
