Our 114,000 colleagues serve people in more than 160 countries.Our location in Lake County, Illinois currently has an opportunity for a Director, Procurement.The Director of Procurement will be responsible for the purchasing, continuity of supply, supplier relationship management and stakeholder alignment activities for all categories and subcategories consisting of multiple business units and geographic areas. Lead "One Abbott Procurement" vision across divisions globally and drive synergies among divisions. Work closely with key stakeholders in both Corporate and Division organizations to develop effective end to end strategies and execute plans and performance metrics. Nurture stakeholder relationships by serving as a business partner, helping identify critical business requirements and deliver best in class sourcing and procurement solutions. Leverage extensive market and supplier relationships to enhance margin and elevate financial performance. Be recognized by the industry and community as thought leaders and change agents. Proactively identifies new business opportunities, process improvement, cost efficiencies and innovative solutions. Provides insight to the business unit(s) on how to best develop and leverage Supplier capabilities for the organization(s). Primary point of contact for overall category needs. Responsible for prioritizing demand globally across the category.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key responsibilities Drives category strategy and translates business strategy in an aligned One Procurement strategy projects.

Champion change and innovation.

Stimulates creativity and innovation in others.

Builds a culture of change management with One Procurement.

Promotes a Global Perspective.

Defines category procurement strategy for Abbott- align with overall strategy and be the key enabler.

Drive Total Cost of Ownership reductions for category through analytics and internal partnerships.

Clearly define category taxonomy and manage baseline.

Coordinate across corporate, functions, divisions to share best practices and adherence to guidelines.

Anticipate the overall needs of multiple business units and to negotiate and influence an accepted portfolio meeting the most strategic needs of the category.

Ensures team measures and tracks internal performance for Abbott users and personally provides feedback to internal senior leaders.

Advise business unit(s) about similar strategies employed by other healthcare companies.

Viewed by industry as subject matter expert.

Consulted for benchmarking.

Drive initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures.

Influence and partner with business leaders (Sr. Director/VP level) to manage the category.

Closely collaborate with adjacent business departments, and external partners to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services, in line with agreed service levels.

Partner and collaborate with key One Procurement staff of other Abbott divisions in order to support cross divisional business initiatives, and drive Procurement synergies and efficiencies.

Build and maintain strategic relationships with key category vendors as well as counterparts at other Healthcare/Consumer companies to unlock the maximum value from the category.

Manage ongoing Supplier relationships.

Create purchasing strategies for category.

Communicate vision and strategy for category.

Foster a collaborative environment among stakeholders.

Initiate, build and maintain strong relationships across various functions, demonstrate the value-add of leveraging and build enthusiasm and support for adoption.

Ensure optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and excellent customer service.

Translate market changes and dynamics for category into strategy across regions.

Continually look for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance.

Lead business program management based on category expertise.

Responsible for all aspects of people leadership for the Category team, setting expectations, coaching,counseling,developing,evaluating,feedback,hiring,discipline and separation.

Responsible for overall organizational effectiveness.

KEY SKILLS:

10+ year track record within procurement and supply chain management Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM),Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification desirable Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification desirable

10-12 years of Procurement and/or deep Category experience.

Some functional experience in both procurement and category specialty.

Strong organizational skills, including program/project governance and increased levels of staff oversight.

Direct experience leading governance boards of large multi-disciplinary projects.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Strong interdisciplinary, and excellent intercultural influence, and networking skills.

Broad international experience and globally astute

Deep knowledge of markets by regions World class supplier management.

Evidence of participation in strategic industry forums.

Strong ability to develop and execute against actionable implementation plans

Relevant business process knowledge, as related to Procurement and Category Management.

Broad knowledge of category technologies and products.

Strong ability to influence multiple stakeholders with superior negotiating skills.

Experience leading multiple teams - both with direct staff and indirect project teams.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & PREFERRED SKILLS:

BA/BS or equivalent experience required: MBA

Great communication skills verbal and written

Contract negotiations experience with major software vendors such as (Microsoft, SAP, AWS, Oracle, SalesForce, etc.)

Experience in the following areas such as IT, Professional Services (solution architecture, network design, integration and deployment), Software, SaaS applications and/or emerging technologies.

Experience managing complex strategic sourcing projects and RFx processes.

Experience with various perpetual and subscription-based licensing models

Experience with various types of license pricing strategies

Proven track record of identifying cost reduction opportunities and driving significant, tangible financial benefit to the business

Ability to support large/complex supplier deals potentially including Software, and Services integrated solutions

Ability to interact with and present up to Director/VP Levels.

The following certifications are preferred: Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) from the Institute of Supply Chain Management (ISM), Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
