Our guarantee is more important than ever, and that means you have a big opportunity to make a difference.In this role the QA Manager - Warehouse will be responsible for food safety and quality program management in our 26 distribution centers and will work with multiple cross-functional project teams and committees. The ideal candidate will have experience in several of the following areas: developing programs to support food safety regulations, quality control/assurance procedures, warehouse management, pest management, auditing, implementing, and maintaining quality management systems, warehouse operations/quality, and public health. They will be a leader with skills essential for fostering an inclusive culture and effectively engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders. The objective of this role is to develop and sustain food safety and quality programs aligned with regulation, putting the customer first, and providing centralized strategic food safety and quality oversight.Position Type: Full-TimeWork Location: Aurora, ILThis role is eligible to participate in ALDI’s Hybrid Work Program, which allows remote work up to 3 days per week (i.e., work remotely up to 3 days per week; work in-office at least 2 days per week).Duties and Responsibilities:Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Works with leadership to develop testing requirements across relevant commodity groups. Ensures the training, development, and performance of their team’s staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce that achieves their career objectives. Recruits and recommends qualified employees for their team’s staff positions. Establishes, communicates and evaluates job responsibilities and performance expectations to their team to ensure mutual understanding of desired results. Understands the overarching company strategy while communicating and modeling the core values of the organization to create a sense of teamwork and membership among employees. Communicates information necessary to conform to all provisions of food and non-food storage and distribution legislation. Investigates product complaints and makes recommendations to the appropriate parties. Provides information necessary to make decisions on releasing or rejecting shipments based on product evaluations and testing. Recommends Emergency Product Withdrawals and Stop Sales within area of responsibility. Consults with leadership on the development of their team's strategy. Advises leadership to source external vendors for applicable services when appropriate. Liaises with applicable areas of the business to ensure timely and efficient communication flow. Consults with the business to effectively design and streamline applicable processes within the organization. Keeps up-to-date on external best practices and relevant changes to their field/area; communicates updates to leadership. Contributes to the International Quality Assurance Working Group and participates in special committees as required. Supports the implementation and maintenance of a quality system, develops and maintains a Quality Assurance manual, including the Emergency Product Withdrawal procedure. Recommends the Quality Assessment of received items regarding the type and number of checks conducted, as well as the evaluation of the results, taking into consideration the inherent product risk and supplier’s quality performance. Communicates with external laboratories with regard to test plans, deadlines and testing. Controls department records and evaluates test reports and statements with regard to technical accuracy, correctness, completeness and credibility. Manages their team by driving projects and tasks to completion through effective prioritization, work planning, resource allocation, and cross-functional collaboration. Identifies cost-saving opportunities and potential process improvements. Serves as the primary link between their team’s staff and leadership to ensure understanding of company goals, objectives, and opportunities for improvement. Complies with ALDI privacy and security requirements and policies if job responsibilities include possible access to confidential and/or sensitive information. Ability to stay organized and multi-task in an efficient and professional manner.Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food and Nutrition, Public Health, Engineering, or a related field required. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance and retail operations required. Or, a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge. Experience within Warehouse Quality/Food Safety Management and pest management within a food manufacturing, retail, or distribution center setting preferred.Physical Requirements: Work may be performed in an office, remote office or a combination of both where a computer and office equipment may be used as needed to perform duties. Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another. Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse. Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.Travel: International & Domestic travel required. Up to 10%.ALDI offers competitive wages and benefits, including:
