Description Job Title: Associate Buyer/Purchaser - Foodservice DistributorOur client in Broadview is looking for a buyer with 3-5 years' experience for their contract to permanent opportunity.Overview: As an Associate Buyer for this Specialty Foodservice Distributor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the purchasing team to ensure the timely and efficient procurement of a wide range of products, including dry goods, refrigerated items, frozen products, including meat, produce and dairy. You will assist in creating purchase orders, maintaining satisfactory inventory levels, and updating and maintaining existing data files to optimize supply chain operations and meet customer demands.Core Responsibilities:
Purchasing Support:
o Assist current purchasing staff in sourcing and procuring products from various suppliers.o Create purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner for products across different temperature ranges.o Collaborate with vendors to negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Inventory Management:
o Maintain adequate inventory levels to meet sales demands while minimizing excess stock.o Monitor inventory levels and product turnover to reduce out-of-code stock rates.o Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure timely receipt and distribution of products.
Data Management:
o Update and maintain current data files, including product descriptions, pricing, and supplier information.o Enter new items into the inventory management system accurately and efficiently.o Conduct regular audits of product data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Quality Assurance:
o Work closely with quality control teams to ensure that all products meet quality and safety standards.o Monitor product quality and address any issues or discrepancies with suppliers promptly.o Implement processes to minimize product waste and spoilage.
Technology Utilization:
o Utilize computer systems and software applications effectively to manage procurement and inventory tasks.o Leverage technology tools for data analysis, reporting, and decision-making.o Stay updated on industry-specific software and tools to enhance efficiency and productivity.Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in business administration or supply chain management preferred. 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, logistics, or inventory management, preferably within the foodservice industry. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management software. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality assurance principles is a plus.The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $70,000 based on experience.
