Personal Care Assistant for Ryan/Peter/John
Start Date: Approx January 6, possibly earlier
The apartment complex is a non-smoking facility
Job Location: West Champaign, near the intersection of Windsor and Mattis
Description: My name is Ryan. I am a 34-year-old male with a physical disability needing assistance with activities of daily living including getting out of bed, showering, dressing, meal assistance, bathroom assistance, and helping with routine cleaning/laundry activities.
Various hours during the day are needed, so we will coordinate with your availability. My two roommates, John and Peter, are also physically disabled and need similar assistance, giving more opportunity for work hours. You are not required to work all of the hours.
Requirements - Be punctual, reliable, safety conscious, and communicative. I need people to commit to a schedule, but if you need time off please let me know in advance. Because reliability is very important, you must have dependable transportation.
Previous experience with healthcare or assisting individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required. If you enjoy working with people and have a friendly, helpful attitude, that’s always a plus.
Pay Details - You will be paid by the Illinois Department of Human Services (Home Services Program) and fill out paperwork before starting work. Because DHS is a state agency, you will need to provide them with copies of your Driver's License or State ID as well as your Social Security Card. The pay rate for DHS PAs is currently $17.75 per hour, with increases in the near future.
Please send an email with a statement of interest and description of related experience. You will also need to provide contact information for at least 1 professional reference. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or need more info. Thanks!
