Immediate opening for Plant Manager-Operations-Engineer
Our retired plant manager was an engineer. The responsibilities were interacting with purchasing, scheduling, and overseeing issues in manufacturing. Print management, providing CAD drawings to the shop for repair parts, checking fixtures and some new tooling designs , as needed. Occasionally provide assistance to our customers engineering staff to suggest changes, confirm designs and work with prototyping.
You will be dealing with everyone in the plant. Issues that the supervisors are unable to resolve will be brought to you, these may be regarding manufacturing or sometimes people issues.
We are a job shop providing a customer designed component part, springs and wireforms, we do not do assembly. We have many repeat orders as well as new business that will need to be reviewed by sales and engineering to provide the customer their blueprint part.
We have been in business for 45 years and have had steady growth and many steady customers.
This is not a boring job and your knowledge, and abilities will come into play every day. Some days will be busier than others! Your time will be divided between your office and on the manufacturing floor. You should be a self-starter, have a sense of urgency and be able to hustle! You’re the team leader in the plant!
Required Skills and Qualifications
Previous experience in metal manufacturing, job shop environment strongly desired
Proficiency in CAD software, we use Solid Edge. Proficient with email and inventory management software programs
Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills
Strong mathematical, research, and analytical skills
Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and communicate with all levels of personnel
