4-6 Camp Leader for Summer Arts Camp
Part-time: June 17 - August 2, 2019
The Old Town School of Folk Music seeks a Camp Leader for 4-6 year olds at our 4544 N. Lincoln location. The Camp Leader will be responsible for guiding the campers, counselors, and teachers through the 9 AM - 12:00 PM camp day, Monday through Friday, for six weeks. The Camp Leader oversees day-to-day activities, leading the entire group in transitions, and is point person for counselors and teachers and a liaison for parents. The Camp Leader oversees arrival and departure of campers, ensures safety of the group, leads meetings and song circles, communicates with the team and camp families, and will help create and organize the end-of-camp performance showcases. The Camp Leader reports to the Camp Coordinator.
Qualifications:
*At least two years experience leading 4-6 year old children in activities, such as those at a camp, daycare, or school, including working and communicating with parents.
*Must be able to remain calm under pressure and be able to solve problems as they arise.
*Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and have excellent communication skills.
*Experience supervising teachers and staff strongly preferred.
*A background in music and an ability to play an instrument (preferably guitar) is required, as is the ability to lead the group in a song circle.
*Applicants must be comfortable supervising, teaching, and managing children and adults.
*Organization, leadership, and a dedication to one's work community are all necessary.
*A serious commitment to and passion for working with children is absolutely essential.
