5th Grade Tutor Position
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced tutor to provide one-on-one lessons remotely for a 5th-grade student. The position is part-time, with consistent scheduling throughout the school year (September 2024 - June 2025). We are located on the West Coast, but welcome applicants from any US location with reliable internet connectivity.
We have been fully remote for years, looking for someone with comparable experience.
Our perfect candidate will be both reliable and experienced.
$35-$50/hr.
English and History Tutor
Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT or 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM PDT
180 hours, total.
English: Advanced reading comprehension, critical analysis of literature, essay writing, and vocabulary development. The curriculum may include classic novels, poetry, and argumentative essay writing.
History: In-depth exploration of U.S. history, including the American Revolution, the Civil War, and key figures in American history. The student should engage in critical discussions about the implications of historical events and create projects or presentations to demonstrate understanding.
Requirements: Experience in teaching advanced English and History to 5th and 6th-grade students. The tutor should be adept at fostering critical thinking and writing skills, with a focus on advanced concepts and analysis.
Math and Science Tutor
Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT or 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM PDT
180 hours, total.
Math: Advanced topics such as fractions, decimals, percentages, and their applications; introduction to pre-algebra concepts including variables and simple equations; problem-solving with multi-step word problems; and exploration of geometric concepts such as area, volume, and properties of shapes.
Science: Hands-on experiments and projects focusing on physical and life sciences. Topics may include the study of ecosystems, basic physics (forces, motion, energy), and chemistry concepts like the periodic table, chemical reactions, and the scientific method. The student should be encouraged to conduct experiments and present findings through reports or presentations.
Requirements: Expertise in teaching advanced math and science concepts to 5th and 6th-grade students. The tutor should be capable of designing challenging and engaging lessons that push the student’s understanding beyond the standard curriculum.
Experience: Prior teaching experience with advanced 5th and 6th-grade students, preferably in a remote learning environment.
Education: Degree in elementary education or relevant field required.
Technology: Proficient in using online learning platforms (e.g., Google Meet, IXL, Prodigy).
Dependability: Commitment to consistent scheduling and high-quality, engaging lessons.
