Our small and dynamic Northwest Indiana (Hammond) office with primarily Chicago area projects is looking to expand. Projects include new single-family homes, rehabs/remodels, occasional multi-family buildings, supportive living facilities, restaurants & bars, retail, occasional industrial, offices, medical/dental, fitness centers, and similar projects. We primarily specialize in permit drawings that are approximately 10 sheets to the set including MEP, although we see much larger projects.
Work location is hybrid. We can work out a work-from-home arrangement with the ideal candidate after our roles, responsibilities, systems and processes are understood, and thereafter we would like to see you at least once per week in Hammond. The role primarily involves development of client-approved design drawings provided to you and completion of construction drawings.
The ideal candidate will possess most of the following skills and traits, although we are happy to train enthusiastic, long-term candidates willing to learn where there may be deficiencies in experience. Your clarification of specific experience will help us find you.
Energetic, self-motivated and personable
Fast paced, multiple-project capable
Fluent in English. Bilingual in Spanish or Polish is a plus
Basic construction and built environment knowledge
AutoCad proficient
Generally familiar with Chicago and suburban permit set requirements
Generally familiar with Chicago Building Code, Zoning Code and permit process
Knowledge sufficient to complete MEP with some initial assistance
REScheck and COMcheck
Basic Photoshop and Acrobat knowledge is a plus
Sketchup and/or the rendering program of your choice is a plus.
License is not required, however we encourage and help to achieve this goal.
This is a position that will start as a contract, but is intended to become full-time depending on your performance. Thank you in advance for stating your compensation requirements.
