Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Medical Billing Specialist in the Healthcare, Hospitals, and Social Assistance industry. Located in Chicago, Illinois, this role involves working closely with residents who require resources from the State of Illinois to fulfill their nursing home financial obligations. Responsibilities: Verifying eligibility on admission documentation to ensure the correct payer is selected for new residents Submitting complete Admission Packets with all necessary documentation to Public Aid within the required timeframe Conducting monthly reconciliations of resident financial accounts to resolve any discrepancies Submitting regular monthly billing statements and any unbilled claims to Public Aid to ensure timely payments Completing weekly eligibility verification for residents to ensure accurate status and payer information Timely completion and submission of redetermination forms to prevent payment interruptions Completing Social Security Rep Reports forms upon receipt to ensure resident's income is not interrupted Reviewing resident cases monthly, identifying and investigating any income changes, and communicating any adjustments as needed Participating in monthly training to ensure competency and proficiency Utilizing skills in Medicaid and Medicaid Billing, as well as Administrative Assistance in all relevant tasks. Requirements Must possess a strong understanding of Medicaid and Medicaid Billing procedures Demonstrated ability in administrative assistance within a healthcare setting Knowledge of medical coding and billing processes required Proficiency in utilizing medical billing software Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment Proven problem-solving and analytical skills Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks Familiarity with the healthcare industry's rules and regulations Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in a related field is preferred Possess strong customer service skills and patient-centric approach Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word Prior experience in a medical billing role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
