Job DescriptionLocation: Chicago, ILHospital: RUSH University Medical CenterDepartment: Social Work & Community HealthWork Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0)Shift: Shift 1Work Schedule: 8 HrSummary:The therapist/counselor will work to assess and treat veterans and their family members in a multidisciplinary outpatient practice setting. The therapist/counselor will provide the necessary counseling and support. The therapist/counselor will work in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors and other members. Care will be focused on specific assigned patient populations including family, children, marriage/couples, and veterans. This position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.Other information:Required Job Qualifications:Current licensure as a Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) required, as appropriate for assigned patient focus group.Master's degree in psychology, social work or applied behavioral science.2-5 years of post-license experience as a member of a psychiatric treatment team in an outpatient setting under licensed supervision.In-depth experience working with one or more of the following patient groups required: family, children, couples or veterans.Experience with evidence based therapiesStrong active listening, critical thinking, judgment and decision making skills.Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.Proficiency with MS Office Suite.Ability to sense problems or potential problemsAbility to apply inductive and deductive reasoning to information received and identifying relationships between seemingly unrelated events/information.Preferred Job Qualifications:Previous work with service members, veterans and their families strongly preferred.Responsibilities:

Interviews, assesses and evaluates clients and families who present themselves for care; provides professional outpatient counseling and treatment with the goal of maximizing personal/family stability.

Prepares intake summaries, treatment plans and case summaries while maintaining on-going confidential records.

Charts member's treatment and progress in accordance with state and other regulations and in keeping with accepted community standards.

Develops implements and evaluates treatment approaches for clients and affected family members, including individual, family, group or intensive therapeutic modalities.

Confers and consults with center physicians regarding client's progress and treatment; this may include conferring with attending physicians regarding hospitalized clients regarding recommendations for treatment plans.

Utilizes resources within the community that support service members and veterans to meet the needs of the client's treatment goals (these community resources will offer options for referrals to external resources for the client and/or family members).

Participates in development, implementation and evaluation of programs within the psychiatry department at Rush.

Develops and conducts psycho-educational classes and groups.

Performs related duties as required.
