Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.Summary:The Clinical Trial Finance Specialist provides overall trial administration and financial-based analytic services to faculty and staff engaged in the conduct of clinical trials—both federal and industry-sponsored. Bachelor’s degree required.
2 years of work-related clinical trials, grants and contracts experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of both RUMC and federal rules and regulations relating to clinical trial conduct and finances.
Knowledge of accounting functions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to gain proficiency with new platforms and processes required as part of role.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail, strong project management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Position requires professionalism, diplomacy, a high degree of judgment, initiative, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work on a team.
Ability to work within strict deadlines, under pressure, and ability to prioritize.
Ability to use statistical concepts regarding financial and budgetary procedures.
Ability to identify and correct problems as they occur and implement solutions to avoid recurrence of said problems.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience with EPIC.
Experience with OnCore.
Responsibilities:
Facilitates clinical trial post-award requirements in accordance with RUMC and sponsor regulations by working closely with other members of the ORA, Sponsor Invoicing and Fund Accounting.
Ensures timely and accurate post-award accounting of clinical trials, review & reconciliation of accounts for compliance of charges, proper handling of financial transactions, and approval of transactions within designated limits through LINK, EPIC, OnCore, and other systems as needed.
Reviews expenditures for eligibility, allocability, reasonableness, and compliance with RUMC, sponsor, government policies, and regulations.
Reviews contracts and other clinical trial documents to determine budget, billable expenses, invoicing schedule, restrictions, and other pertinent information.
Monitors clinical trial expenditures to ensure correct billing of research-related expenses to the appropriate funding sources; resolves clinical trial expenses incorrectly billed.
Monitors cash balances of executed clinical trials to ensure that sponsors are correctly billed for items requiring payment; tracking payment status of incurred expenses to ensure prompt and accurate billing and reconciliation
Reviews and assists in the preparation of detailed cost and financial analysis, forecasts and projections reflecting interrelationships of clinical trial conduct, and provides financial tracking and fiscal control.
Maintains various databases, record-keeping systems, and all applicable project files to ensure program records are up to date, alerting stakeholders to any abnormalities.
Assists with data gathering, initial analysis, and interpretation for fiscal research information.
Develops, creates, and seeks out innovative ways to meet and exceed performance goals of clinical trial portfolio.
Works with other research administrators to solve problems, answer questions, and give guidance on clinical trial finances and related issues.
