Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.Summary:The Oncology program manager position at Rush involves overseeing the broader Oncology service line technology portfolio. This role fosters the adoption of innovative technologies like genomics and AI, maximizing the effectiveness of our clinical leaders in the RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center.The individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. The role requires engagement and interaction across multiple disciplines supporting oncology including lab, pharmacy, imaging, treatment protocols, billing, research, and clinical trials to build a full understanding of all the oncology needs.

The role must ensure that all work is coordinated and seamless, resulting in the best experience and outcomes for patients and clinicians.

Create business cases and project plans, and lead cross-functional teams to control scope, execute plan, prioritize/resolve issues, communicate with stakeholders, and identify/address process gaps for cancer center IT projects

The role involves leading project team members, providing guidance, support, and professional development, and fostering I-CARE values.

Provide support for Cancer Center initiatives and coordinate information technology subject matter experts as needed

Provide strategic guidance to cancer center leadership with project prioritization based on organizational strategy, operational needs, and IT resource/budget constraints

Fosters a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques.

Overseeing and planning support and advisory for the full system lifecycle of oncology related technology.

Builds and maintains relationships with other D&IS leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensures cost-effective delivery of D&IS services to meet those needs and can respond with agility to changing business priorities.

Maintains standard operating procedure accountability, quality assurance and adherence to all processes.

This leader will ensure that all work is coordinated and seamless, resulting in the best experience and outcomes for patients and clinicians.

Management – Drives strategy for Information solutions & Services within the Rush Oncology service line and participates in development of the broader DIS strategy. Volunteers for and successfully leads special projects for the department.

Leadership – Known as an expert among peers both internal and external to RUSH. Actively educates, inspires and mentors fellow team members to provide innovative solutions and processes. Strong cultural change management skills. Shares ongoing technical and clinical knowledge to bring up skill level of D&IS.

Technical Skills – Brings best practices and experience to management. Understands how to obtain and leverage metrics to manage their area or the customer. Able to manage vendor relationships.

Communication and Influencing skills – Actively implements desired clinical and business processes within sphere of influence. Works with peers to coordinate management efforts. Presents effectively at the executive level.

Business Sense– Ability to provide complex multi-dimensional solutions to complex business problems. Ability to influence and communicate with executive levels of the organization. Ability to negotiate contracts.

Initiative – Identifies opportunities or problems and either leads or facilitates the solution. Seeks out customers to determine their needs, prevent issues and build relationships.

Budget – Able to manage and develop project budgets. Able to build complex ‘what-if’ cost models.

Strategy & Portfolio Road Map– Intrigued by challenging and complex issues surrounding future technology not limited to artificial intelligence (AI). Runs multiple “what if” scenarios to identify potential problems. Plans strategies to meet corporate and departmental goals and needs. Anticipates business needs and assists business leaders with strategic planning of IT related issues.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree computer science, information systems, health care or related fields required

10 years of Healthcare and/or Healthcare IT leadership experience; Oncology/Cancer Service Line experience desired

Demonstrated experience and working knowledge across various disciplines, including oncology, lab, pharmacy, imaging, treatment protocols, billing, research, and clinical trials.

5 years’ experience in direct management or project management role in an Oncology setting

Minimum of 5 years Epic Beacon experience

At least 1 current Epic certification in Beacon, Willow, Ambulatory and/or Research that will need to be maintained.

Strong leadership and communication skills to inspire and guide teams through change.

Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively with attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

Master’s degree

IT operations experience at a National Cancer Institute (NCI) certified organization or a Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) or MD Anderson Affiliate organization. This leader will ensure that all work is coordinated and seamless, resulting in the best experience and outcomes for patients and clinicians.

Direct clinical experience in Oncology
