This role can sit in our corporate headquarters in Chicago or in our Washington, DC office.McDonald’s is seeking a Director, Global Government Relations & Public Policy to be a key leader in its strategic Government Relations & Public Policy Center of Excellence. As issues impacting McDonald’s are increasingly global in nature, it is essential to be connected across relevant functions and share takeaways across the entire system.Part of the Global Impact function and reporting to the Sr Director, Global Government Relations & Public Policy, a successful candidate will play a pivotal role among U.S. and international government relations teams, impact leaders around the world and relevant business functions to assist McDonald’s in achieving its business objectives.This includes making McDonald’s known for its positive impact on people, planet and communities through 1) helping formulate and lead on implementing corporate public policy positions to shape the external environment and advance reputational objectives, 2) oversee a centralized resource center supporting markets and functions, 3) spearhead a “One McDonald’s Way” to Government Relations and 4) engage with strategic external partners.ResponsibilitiesVision: Direct and help build a team of stakeholder and public policy managers to deliver against the goals and objectives of the global COE.Leadership: Fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, provide guidance and mentorship to ensure team growth and success.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with U.S. and international government relations teams, impact leads, business units (e.g. operations, franchising, development, supply chain, people), legal, communications, and subject matter authorities to advance McDonald’s business and reputational objectives.Global Government Relations: develop and implement frameworks and tools to guide and support a “One McDonald’s Way” approach to Government Relations.Public Policy Research, Analysis and Formulation: Work with internal/external collaborators to identify and analyze policy trends that impact the McDonald’s System, formulate positions, and assist teams in implementing advocacy campaigns.Enterprise leadership: Serves as Sr. counsel on public policy and stakeholder engagement on key internal, cross-functional teams. May serve as lead on primary cross-functional “campaigns”.Systems Approach: Implement tools/processes for acquisition, analysis, cataloging and sharing of relevant information among key internal teams and collaborators to enable efficient information sharing and decision making.External Engagement: Identify key external partners, build and maintain strong relationships, and enable McDonald’s engagement in relevant forums. Including researching key issues and opportunities at critical stakeholder organizations where McDonald’s does not currently have a presence in including WHO, UN, WEF stakeholders, etc. and deliver a plan for engagement.Benefits eligible: Yes

The expected salary range for this role is $149,260 – $190,310 per year
