Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.Summary:Responsible for all aspects of managing federal, state, pharmaceutical, philanthropic, and foundation grants and funds. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.Required Qualifications: Undergraduate degree or some college education combined with work experience in a finance-related field. Minimum 5 years’ experience in dealing with funds, fund reports and the preparation of financial status reports is mandatory. Strong analytical ability required, must be able to provide and use statistical concepts with regard to financial and budgetary procedures, strong computer skills; ability to identify and correct problems as they occur; knowledge of all accounting functions essential. Must be literate in Microsoft Excel and Word and be willing to learn any new grants management software as needed. Excellent Organizational skills required; interpersonal skills necessary to work with a diverse group of people. Must be self-motivated and must be able to use time and resources effectively; must be able to make and implement plans. Must be able to work independently.Responsibilities: Responsible for managing all departmental, federal, state, pharmaceutical, philanthropic, and foundation funds. Responsible for ensuring that the terms of the contracts are met. Responsible for ensuring that the funds are not overspent, that appropriate expenses are placed on the funds, and that funds are closed out in a timely matter. Responsible for budget planning and forecasting. Responsible for researching data for the preparation of accurate budgets and ensuring that budgets are processed in a timely manner through appropriate institutional channels for review and authorization. Responsible for providing up-to-date, accurate reports on the status of research and other funds of the department. Responsible for state and federal billings as stated in the terms of the contract. Responsible for preparation of other complex reports as directed by the Chairman or Research Director. This includes analysis of projects to determine cost savings or to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Responsible for grants management; responsible for monitoring project, research and discretionary funds. Responsible for maintaining a detailed database of all expenses to all funds. Responsible for reconciliation of grants and contracts on a monthly basis with responsibility and accountability for correction of errors. Responsible for preparing accurate up-to-date financial reports on the status of assigned funds. Fund status reports are to be submitted to the Research Director and appropriate investigators on a monthly basis, with one-on-one meetings, if necessary. Assist in the preparation of grant proposals to include fostering collaborative relationship with co-investigators and externally overseeing their timely completion of assignments and participation in the final assembly of the grant. Perform targeted funding searches, disseminate extramural funding opportunities, and communicate with potential funding sources. Master local and internet search facilities to accomplish data gathering. Works with the Research Director in preparing yearly departmental professional and operating budgets. Prepares staff change notices of regular and professional staff assuring funding integrity and percentages of time on multiple grants and contracts. Prepares purchase orders, petty cash and check requests, travel vouchers and work orders assuring expenditures are within grant or contract budget.
