The lead instructional designer will be responsible for assisting in data collection, analysis, and reporting, while maintaining their role as an instructional designer by leading the design and development of engaging and effective online, blended and traditional learning materials for a variety of academic disciplines.Required Job Qualifications: Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or other related area. 10 or more years of experience working in the areas of instructional design techniques, computer-based education and alternative instructional delivery methods required; commitment to keeping abreast of the latest instructional design trends and practices. The ability to mentor junior instructional designers, providing guidance and support for their professional development The ability to navigate change and advocate for the adoption of innovative learning solutions Advanced knowledge of instructional design models and how/when to implement them A solid grasp of learning theories that inform instructional choices and cater to learning needs Exceptional Communication Skills: The ability to clearly articulate complex information in writing, verbally, and visually. This includes active listening and fostering open communication with stakeholders. Experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams and departments Experience initiating ideas and following through on implementing the ideas Keen understanding of the organization’s goals and the ability to align instructional initiatives with those goals The ability to have a strategic mindset that can focus on details and the big picture Advanced knowledge of software supportive of instructional design such as Respondus and Respondus Lockdown Browser, Articulate, Adobe Creative Suite, Screenpal, Examity, Canvas Studio, H5P, Kahoot, etc.Physical Demands: Prolonged sittingResponsibilities: Collaborate with institutional leadership s to translate their knowledge into clear and concise learning content Create and design model courses that can be used to help others in the design process Stay up to date on the latest educational technologies and learning trends, recommending new tools and resources Provide mentorship and guidance to junior IDs, fostering a collaborative and supporting learning environment Contribute to the department’s strategic vision by proposing and leading initiatives that enhance the quality and effectiveness of instruction Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to deadlines Analyze learning and departmental data to evaluate effectiveness and identify areas for improvement Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to extract knowledge and translate into learning content while bridging any knowledge gaps Attend meetings with the Director or in the Director’s place when requested and effectively report back about important information Lead relevant departmental committees In the Director’s absence, take over Director responsibilities related to instructional design projects and initiatives Communicate professionally and effectively with RUSH staff members, faculty, and studentsRush is an equal opportunity employer.
