Job Details
You will:
Serve as Lead Engineer on mid- to large-size projects for buildings and/or civil structures.
Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
Layout and detail portions of projects using schematic layout by Project Lead Engineer. May be assigned responsibility for schematic or conceptual layouts, when qualified.
Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters.
Research design options, and document findings, for Project Lead Engineer.
Review shop drawings
Provide cost estimates for the engineering budget and schedule, to meet requirements on large projects.
Coordinate work with other disciplines, such as Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical.
Direct and supervise other Designers'/Drafters' activities.
Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents.
Provide specialized technical input to studies and design, for staff's specific area of expertise.
Approve and sign off on work.
Present complex, technical solutions to clients.
Perform quality-control reviews of work developed by others.
Perform field activities, such as observing and recording existing field conditions; and taking and verifying measurements within the project area.
Other duties may include: Project Management; mentoring; client interaction and meetings; preparation of proposals; and routine contract administration
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
15+ years of progressive experience in designing and detailing transportation or building structures
Structural Engineer License
Professional Engineer License in Illinois
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Structural Engineering
AutoCAD experience and associated Structural Engineering related software.
