About the team:ReleaseOps is the ServiceNow application deployment pipeline used to package, validate, and deliver updates and applications with speed, safety, and consistency. The team builds, maintains, and troubleshoots the backend Java-based systems that power this pipeline, with select JavaScript components supporting specific platform functions. As part of the Platform and App Engine organization, we are seeking an Engineering Manager with strong technical depth, advanced troubleshooting skills, and solid leadership to guide this team. The manager will drive customer-focused adoption of ReleaseOps, reduce setup effort, and lower support case tasks while delivering features shaped by real customer feedback. The work centers on high-impact backend systems and demands secure practices, compliance, and strong protection of customer data during deployment operations. What you get to do in this role: Design and develop scalable, maintainable, and reusable software components with a strong emphasis on performance and reliability.  Collaborate with product managers to translate requirements into well-architected solutions, owning features from design through delivery  Contribute to the design and implementation of new products and features while enhancing existing product capabilities.  Integrate automated testing into development workflows to ensure consistent quality across releases.  Participate in design and code reviews ensuring best practices in performance, maintainability, and testability.  Develop comprehensive test strategies covering functional, regression, integration and performance aspects  Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement by sharing best practices in engineering and quality  Promote a culture of engineering craftsmanship, knowledge-sharing, and thoughtful quality practices across the team.  To be successful in this role you have: Ability to manage projects with material technical risk at a team level Experience with open-source tools and agile development environments Fluency in one or more relevant programming languages (Java, JavaScript, etc.) An understanding of broad concepts and experience using those concepts to understand and develop solutions for problems Ability to execute a project based on our priorities, context, risks and desired outcomes
