Description:JOB ANNOUNCEMENTPROJECTS ADMINISTRATOR - GRANTSOffice of Public Safety Administration (OPSA)Grants DivisionNumber of Positions: 1As an essential member of the Chicago Office of Public Safety Administration (OPSA) Grants Division, under the direction of the Director of Grants Management, the Project Administrator will actively and substantially contribute to the management of the entire public safety grants portfolio by gaining technical knowledge of all public safety grant programs and specialist-level knowledge of grants under their responsibility. They will also be managing staff that are grants research specialists.ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Writing grant application narratives and budget proposals

Run reports on expenditures and create timelines to track multiple projects and compliance and auditing requirements, presentation material, and supporting materials for requested actions.

Communication with the Grantors, reporting requirements, drafting MOUs/agreements related to the grants, milestone updates and progress meetings with subject matter experts, setting up grants in the city’s finance system.

Progress reports to the budget office

Researching new opportunities based on needs garnered from strategy conversations with the public safety departments.

Maintain professional knowledge and develop new relationships for the exchange of ideas and perspectives by keeping current on industry and government standards and requirements, attending workshops and informational meetings, reviewing professional publications, and continuing partnerships and collaborations.

Provide guidance and assistance that are consistent with the overall direction of the department, develop and implement policies and procedures, and research a variety of topics including new programs, grant availability, and professional development.

Participate in a variety of internal and external meetings involving a range of issues related to regulatory requirements, program offerings, funding statuses, collaborations and partnerships, and participation levels.

Compiling budget documents and analyzing grants public safety receives and preparing reports and statistical data for executive briefings.

Perform other related duties as required.

NOTE: The list of essential duties is not intended to be inclusive; there may be other duties that are essential to particular positions within the class.LOCATION : OPSA3510 S Michigan AveHOURS: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – FridaySalary: $113,172THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM CAREER SERVICE.Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business orPublic Administration or a field of study directly related to the responsibilities of the position, plusfive years of project management work experience, or an equivalent combination of education,training and experience.Disclaimer - "Accredited" means any nationally or regionally accredited college, university, or law school where the applicant is enrolled in or has completed an Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Juris Doctorate degree program.SELECTION REQUIREMENTSThis position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

Technical skills in grant writing, previous management of grant programs, and general project management experience

Previous work experience in public or fiscal policy development, project management

Previous experience with federal, state, and private grant programs and a demonstrated ability to address requirements, contractual arrangements, and procedures (e.g., writing and submission of grant proposals; monitoring/oversight of grant activities, expenditures, and reimbursements; preparing of required status reports to grantors, executive leadership, and operational units; data collection and analysis associated with status report development).

Complex budget development and implementation experience.

Ability to effectively lead, manage, and supervise people and processes.

Ability to speak, read and write any language other than English fluently
