And, more than anything, it’s about bringing people together.If you’re ready to be a part of our team, we encourage you to apply.Job DescriptionBrookfield Properties has an immediate need for a Real Estate Tax Analyst at the corporate office in Chicago, IL.The Property Management Department seeks to add an experienced, energetic commercial property tax professional to proactively ensure that real estate property tax liabilities for the Company's shopping centers are appropriately managed and reduced. The Company's Property Management Department is primarily responsible for the operations of the Company's portfolio of shopping centers, and its focus is the disciplined management of all expenses that impact these centers. Overall, we seek qualities that display our company’s core values which are Humility, Attitude, Do the Right Thing, Together and Own it.ResponsibilitiesAssist the Real Estate Tax Department in analyzing and addressing the Company’s shopping center properties’ real estate tax assessments in various jurisdictions throughout the United States.

Track assessment notices and maintain real estate tax appeal calendar to ensure timely response and filing of tax appeals, as necessary.

Assist in real estate valuation analyses for assigned portfolio of properties to determine whether Company’s proposed assessments are appropriately valued, or whether the property could benefit from a real estate tax appeal.

Assist in creating appeal packages in support of filed tax appeals, including, but not limited to, valuation analyses, income approach arguments, market analysis, and competition review.

Serve as liaison with Company’s Property Accounting Department to obtain necessary financial data and operating reports.

Complete real estate tax filings as necessary, including, but not limited to, mandatory Income and Expense filings.

Prepare real estate tax estimates, projections, and budgets to properly manage the real estate tax expense.

Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required

Bachelor's degree

2+ years related experience

Knowledge of real estate valuation and finance

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Solid organizational skills with the ability to adhere to deadlines.

Experience handling real estate tax appeals at consulting firm, law firm, or in-house real estate department preferred.

Proficiency in financial modeling and ability to interpret financial statements.
