Conduct research that leads to high impact to decarbonize buildings and grids. Bring research to fruition by developing market-oriented technological solutions. This role is based in Princeton, NJ and on-site is optimal however the position offers the flexibility for remote work within the continental U.S.Responsibilities:

Identify pre-development opportunities for sustainable technology offerings.

Provide strategic direction for product development in sustainable energy and infrastructure.

Collaborate with Siemens Business Units to create impactful solutions.

Analyze and model carbon footprints for grids, sites, and supply chains.

Develop models for energy and infrastructure planning and operation.

Draft grant proposals and collaborate on research, development, and consulting projects with partners.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:Basic Qualifications:

Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, Building Engineering, or Physics from an accredited University.

Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience for an Engineer, and 5-10 years of work experience for a Senior Engineer

Demonstrated experience in building controls and energy optimization.

Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, KNX, and LonWorks interfacing with Building Energy Management Systems (such as Desigo CC).

Programming building control logic in edge devices or cloud platform to interface with the BMS and building equipment.

Knowledge of building automation and controls and simulation of buildings, power systems, HVAC, and electrification.

Advanced programming skills in Python, Go, Julia, or C/C.

Technoeconomic analysis and lifecycle emission assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience developing government grant proposals.

Author of high-quality research publications.

Experience with simulation tools such as EnergyPlus, Modelica, MATLAB.

Integration of buildings with the grid, vehicles, storage systems, and other DERs (Distributed Energy Resources).
