The Underwriting Analyst (UA) contributes to the success of the Underwriting team by partnering with Underwriters to drive growth, profitability and retention while providing excellent service within established performance standards and priorities.Responsibilities:Responsible for system installation and issuance of newly sold case policy forms and documents in accordance with underwriting guidelines
Responsible for handling policy renewal preparation activities such as compiling premium and loss run reports, contract comparison, processing and issuance of renewal policy documents
Processing of Broker of Record change requests, bind requests, endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, and servicing of inforce policies
Assist with tracking and updating of new Request For Proposal (RFP) submissions along with E-file setup
Assist with initial review of new RFP submissions and renewal information; partners with Underwriters to identify and gather relevant information from producers to quote
Ensures internal records for licensing and appointments are updated and documented in accordance established procedures for producer partners
Ensure Service Levels are met and/or exceeded
Ensures files are well documented and comply with corporate standards for quality and compliance
Assist internal partners with requests (i.e. Claims team requests for documentation; resolution of accounting problems, etc.)
Provides administrative support and participates in projects as assigned by Underwriting management
Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external business partners
Qualifications:Knowledge of underwriting and regulatory/compliance concepts, practices, and procedures; Accident & Health Insurance experience a plus
Proficient in MS Office applications
Must be well-organized, positive, energetic, self-motivated, and possesses strong interpersonal skills
Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills and have a strong attention to detail
Exceptional time management skills and ability to balance both productivity and overall quality within established and measurable metrics
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to develop and enhance strong impactful customer relationships
Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
CompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
