Warehouse Supervisor Apply now » Date: Dec 18, 2024 Location: Chicago, IL, US Company: Dart Container Responsible for leading and developing employees, as well as meeting defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for Safety, Quality, Production, Service and Efficiency. While performing the supervisory duties listed below, the supervisor is required to spend 75% of time on the floor. Supervise warehouse operations including dock management, routing and sequencing of trailers, rail or water freight, shipping and receiving, and inventory control. Day-to-Day Role:

Supervise and promote practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards

Take ownership and demonstrate leadership necessary to achieve goals specific to Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency, and Employee Development

Lead by example to promote and encourage employees to strongly commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)

Establish an environment that encourages employee engagement, participation and teamwork within and between all departments

Schedule priorities, equipment, workstations and staff to efficiently meet goals on time. This includes taking daily attendance, scheduling personnel and coordinating lunch and rest breaks

Track Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), anticipating and correcting trends which would compromise achievement of targets.

Audit the floor as required by Leader Standard Work, monitor metrics, verify adherence to procedures/ standard work and correct deficiencies as necessary.

Develop and communicate team goals, processes and procedures

Collaborate with other management teams as necessary to achieve goals and targets.

Manage the coordination and scheduling for dock management, routing and sequencing of trailers, rail or water freight

Respond to delivery, lost shipments, incorrect paperwork, pricing, and quantity escalations

Manage inbound and outbound shipping and receiving and inventory processes, procedures, and documentation

Assist with customer escalations

Train employees on SAP systems and procedures relating to supply chain and inventory management

Actively support Operational Excellence and effectively participate in lean initiatives

Understand, support, and follow management expectations in alignment with company values

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

Two (2) year of lead (or equivalent) experience with demonstrated strong leadership and management skills.

High School Diploma or equivalent

Three (3) years of experience in a warehouse environment

Ability to utilize and train employees on technology, processes and procedures

Displays strong interpersonal skills and is accessible and approachable

Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities

Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes

Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects and priorities

Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Familiar with and ability to convert decimals to fractions or vice versa

Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

Prior supervisory experience

Previous plant production software experience required, SAP experience

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree

Prior training experience

Lean manufacturing experience

Paper converting, chemical/plastics processing and packaging industrial experience
