Open call for Rockstar Baristas
Back to the Grind is Chicagoland's premier Espresso Catering service. With our fully equipped espresso carts, we bring the warmth and nostalgia of cafes into businesses and event spaces throughout the area! Not only do our baristas provide exceptional service, we believe in using quality ingredients and supporting local brands – every element is chosen to delight and leave a lasting impression.
We recently launched this summer and events are picking up, so we are now hiring for the Fall and Winter season! Our baristas are warm, friendly humans that love to serve amazing drinks and make our guests’ day a little brighter. The types of events we serve are varied: we cater events where the event coordinator pays for unlimited drinks for their guests, AND we also pop up at festivals in the area where guests pay for their own drinks. Both environments are fast paced and we strive to maintain the best service possible for each guest. Shifts are sent out and picked up via email, first come first served - work whenever you’re available!
Requirements:
- Must have reliable transportation, our events are all over the Chicagoland area so having a reliable car is preferred
- 1 year experience as a barista in a fast paced environment, familiarity with coffee drinks a plus; experience as a bartender a plus
- Upbeat personality and ability to smile under all circumstances
- Passionate about providing the best experience to each guest
- Maintain Chicago food handlers license
- High integrity with a great attendance record
- Strong attention to detail, especially when working under pressure
- Neat, clean, and professional at all times throughout the workday
- Comply with expectations as demonstrated in the employee handbook
- Demonstrate ability to diffuse and respond to customer concerns
Compensation:
(Based on experience)
Festivals: $16-$18 per hour plus tips. Tips are cashed out at the end of each shift.
Catered events (experienced baristas receive priority hiring): $30/hr, higher pay to offset no tip jar promoted.
If working more than 4hrs total, meals will be reimbursed.
