Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Fryer and Market Prep Assistant. This position will be primarily responsible for frying delicious beignets at our stand and assisting with market preparation tasks as needed. The ideal candidate should have a passion for cooking, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain the fryer to ensure the consistent production of high-quality beignets.
Prepare and fry beignets according to established recipes and standards.
Assist in setting up and dismantling the beignet stand at events and farmers markets.
Help with market preparation tasks such as ingredient preparation, packing supplies, and organizing inventory.
Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the fryer and surrounding area.
Provide excellent customer service to our patrons, taking orders and handling transactions.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate with management regarding supply needs.
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Requirements:
Previous experience in frying or cooking, preferably in a commercial kitchen or food service environment.
Valid Food Handler's Card issued by the City of Chicago or willingness to obtain one.
Ability to lift and carry at least 75 lbs.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and evenings.
