An experienced restaurant group is bringing an old bar to life with a new bar/restaurant concept in Old Town, rooted in what’s made Chicago. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about entrepreneurship but chooses to scratch-that-itch in the hospitality industry and is hell bent on making it a career. They understand the pitfalls that plague the industry and are fresh eyed and eager enough to work hard to change it. Liquor, beer, wine, and food knowledge is essential and so is the desire to use that knowledge to teach and inspire others. The ideal candidate is excited and gains energy through a successful service. While they can lead from behind, they are equally good at rolling up their sleeves and getting in the mud - in fact it’s that duality that excites them.

General Manager – Full-Service Bar and Restaurant

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated General Manager to lead a new concept—a full-service bar and restaurant rooted in old-school hospitality. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and respond to the evolution of a distinctive dining experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality management, a commitment to operational excellence, and a desire to play a key role in the development of a concept that values substance, service, and quality over trend.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operations, ensuring seamless coordination between front-of-house and back-of-house teams to deliver exceptional service and high-quality food and beverages.

Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement strategies to achieve revenue targets and control costs.

Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor staff, fostering a culture of hard work, opportunity, and self-actualization. Encourage professional growth and maintain high employee morale.

Quality Assurance: Uphold uncompromising quality standards in all aspects of the business, from food preparation to customer service, ensuring a consistently excellent guest experience.

Innovation: Identify opportunities for menu development, service enhancements, and process improvements to keep the establishment competitive and aligned with industry trends.

Product Knowledge: Demonstrate a strong understanding of wine, beer, and cocktails, along with a sharp sense of what people like to eat—balancing approachability with taste and quality.

Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize available data to inform strategic decisions, optimize operations, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a General Manager or in a similar leadership role within the hospitality industry.

Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with a focus on servant leadership and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and solve problems effectively.

Compensation:

Salary: 65k-70k
