The Lucky Platter is a 34 year old Evanston diner serving breakfast & lunch 6 days a week and dinner 5 nights a week. In 2021 we expanded our space to include the Platter Pantry, a well curated neighborhood bodega style store offering unique items ranging from house-made pastries and frozen meals to tasty goods made by other local and some international makers.
We have a tight knit team, we have the best regulars and are currently looking for a strong manager to help take us to the next level.
The schedule is somewhat flexible though the heavy lifting will be on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (hopefully that part is obvious ;).
We aren't looking for a cookie cutter manager and are willing to work with the right individual to craft a position that will both help the manager shine and the restaurant flourish.
The position reports directly to the owner/operator and his/her prime objective will be to represent the owner's vision for the restaurant, most importantly when the owner is not on site. This will require someone that is intuitive, confident, creative, adaptive, energetic, thorough and an excellent communicator. We will also be looking for someone that practices humility and gratitude as these are the cornerstone qualities we look for in all of our employees.
A few basic responsibilities include:
FOH scheduling
Some light food ordering
Liquor ordering
Guest experience management
some light repairs and maintenance
coordinating with vendors and tradesmen when needed.
Ensuring a high standard of consistent food quality.
An ideal candidate will have background in management as well as serving in a similar genre of establishment.
Bonus skills and qualities:
graphic design
catering experience
grocery store ordering/inventory
passion for food and beverage
conversational Spanish
number of hours can vary depending on the candidate but will range from 30-40 hours a week with potential to earn occasional OT.
pay range does genuinely depend on experience and skill set, though base starting will not be lower than $24/hr.
There is potential to grow both responsibilities and compensation (salary can be discussed if preferred).
