The Restaurant Cashier is responsible for managing financial transactions with customers, handling both cash and electronic payments, issuing receipts, and ensuring a positive checkout experience. They may also assist with front-of-house duties like taking orders, answering questions, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
Accurately take customer orders (if applicable) and enter them into the POS (Point of Sale) system.
Process transactions for dine-in, takeout, or delivery orders using cash, credit/debit cards, and other payment methods.
Issue receipts, handle refunds or exchanges, and count back change.
Balance the cash register at the beginning and end of shifts.
Answer phones and respond to customer inquiries or direct them to the appropriate staff.
Maintain cleanliness and organization at the cashier station and front counter.
Assist in stocking supplies and keeping the front-of-house area tidy.
Follow all restaurant policies, safety procedures, and cash handling standards.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous cashier or customer service experience is a plus.
Strong math and computer skills, especially with POS systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
Dependable and punctual.
Work Environment:
Fast-paced restaurant setting (quick service, casual dining).
May require working weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Frequent standing and interaction with customers.
