$14/hour, approx 5-12 hours/week depending on need, May- September2024

Note: Pool season is June - August 2024. Training done in May 2024.

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Aquatic & Fitness Facility Supervisor and Swim Lesson Coordinator, the Swim Instructor is responsible for the safety of patrons in the pool, deck areas, and related support areas.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

The ability to perform the essential functions.

Possess strong swimming skills and a thorough knowledge of the basic swim strokes.

An ability to listen and follow directions.

An understanding of the principles of customer service and client relations.

An understanding of the principles of risk management and safety .

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:

- Demonstrate ability to work independently or with limited direction; anticipate needs for successful swim lesson program.

- Create and effectively implement lesson plans appropriate to program level and participant abilities.

- Maintain accurate records including: attendance, progress of participants, class activities and courserecord sheets.

- Demonstrate effective emergency action plans, CPR and oxygen administration including recognizing,reporting and responding to unsafe conditions and pool hazards.

- Maintaining a professional well-groomed appearance and attitude while performing duties.

- Continuing education by attending mandatory in service, staff meetings, and training sessions.

- Following the rules and regulations of the Roselle Park District, Starfish Aquatics Institute, and the State, Village and County Health Departments.

- Implementing proper procedures in the event of an emergency.

- Reporting for duty as scheduled.

- Participating in all pre-employment and in-service training.

- Upholding the policies and standards of the Roselle Park District.

- Maintain and promote excellent customer service relations with patrons, parents, and other affiliates.

- Upholding and enforcing all risk management and safety goals and procedures. Strictly enforce all generalsafety rules and improve public and employee knowledge by preventing, confronting and correcting unsafe behavior.

- Demonstrating good judgment.
