Area Manager - Restoration/Traffic

The Area Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and directing supervisors, foreman and employees on a daily basis to complete the scheduled work on time, safely, and on budget with limited supervision. This position must be able to lead people and take full responsibility for all field operations within the assigned area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement work schedules that meet customer completion requirements & company production expectations

Monitor work quality performed by the Restoration Division field crews and enforce standards and requirements with Supervisors, Foreman & field crews

Inspect work in progress and confirm crew safety and work quality compliance. Coordinate efforts with Quality Assurance & safety personnel to promote good work habits and address issues.

Work with Supervisors & Foreman to address field disciplinary issues, complaints and/or grievances as needed

Document all workforce related issues and coordinate with Supervisors & General Manager to arrive at appropriate actions for resolution

Monitor Supervisor & Foreman oversight of employee payroll reporting, expense reporting, equipment usage, production quantities, materials and job notes. Ensure all related paperwork is submitted to the appropriate department or personnel in the required timeframe.

Monitor equipment condition and confirm with Supervisors, Foreman & Fleet personnel that all equipment is in safe & productive working order.

Coordinate field repairs & preventative maintenance with Supervisors, Foreman, Fleet personnel and equipment vendors

Monitor equipment utilization and make adjustments in equipment assignments necessary to achieve maximum utilization

Work with Supervisors & Fleet Manager to confirm need for any rental equipment

Work with Supervisors & support personnel to monitor the purchase, inventory & tracking of all necessary materials

Work with Supervisors & support personnel to monitor performance of all subcontractors and vendors active on Q3 projects & job sites

Work with support staff to ensure all necessary field paperwork is submitted by Supervisors & Foreman as required and that adequate paperwork processing can be completed to confirm timely billing & timely work completion

Cooperate & coordinate with other Area Managers, General Managers, Fleet personnel etc. in transferring equipment, materials, labor & other field resources among projects, Areas, Divisions or Regions

Cooperate & Coordinate with Customer Representatives, Human Resources, Quality Assurance and Safety & Training groups on project details and requirements

Communicate daily with General Manager on job progress, job reporting, employee issues, staff size & hours, equipment needs, material needs, support requirements and any other items relevant to safe & efficient operations

Actively mentor Supervisors & Foreman and create environment where they can also mentor field staff

Take a primary role in customer and/or private property complaint resolution and coordinate activities with claims department when required

Work with General Manager & Estimating department with the development of bid submittals and also with the project controls needs & implementation of successful bids

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously

Effective communication skills, both oral and written

Strong leadership skills

Knowledge of computers and Windows based software and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications that are employed to improve process and efficiency

Respond promptly to customer needs and resolve all issues satisfactorily

Maintain confidentiality at all times

Ability to promote a positive team environment and inspire a culture of trust & respect

Ability to delegate work assignments and match the responsibility with the personnel

Ability to set expectations and monitor delegated activities to their successful conclusion

Follow policies and procedures and complete administrative tasks correctly and on time

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or Equivalent

5-years post-secondary training & experience in construction or engineering

Degree in Construction Management, Business, or equivalent is a positive

An equivalent combination of education and experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS

English required. Spanish a plus.

Ability to read, interpret and implement construction plans, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to peers, customers, employees, or the public

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds

Ability to drive on a stop and start basis daily and continually, getting in and out of trucks and/or equipment multiple times during the course of the day

Standing, walking including and primarily on uneven surfaces, turning, stooping, kneeling, crouching, speaking and hearing are required continuously

Close vision is required for some functions and distance and peripheral vision is required for safety.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee will be subjected to outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts

Employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electric shock and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment can often be loud.

The employee is frequently exposed to moving traffic in the work environment.

OTHER CONDITIONS

Adhere to all company policies, rules and regulations as stated in the Company Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license for the state in which the primary work functions are performed.

Be available for occasional weekly shifts of emergency after-hours and emergency weekend on-call duties.

Must present a professional image at all times, representing self and company in a professional, courteous and respectful manner when dealing with customers, vendors, employees and the public.
