JOB SUMMARY
The Automotive Painter is responsible for performing all phases of automotive refinishing work, including prepping, priming, color matching, and painting vehicles according to factory and industry standards. The role requires a strong eye for detail, a commitment to quality workmanship, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced collision repair environment. Additional duties include maintaining paint equipment, mixing materials, and ensuring a clean and safe workspace.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare vehicles and parts for painting, including sanding, masking, and cleaning surfaces.
Mix, match, and apply paints and finishes according to specifications and color codes.
Apply primers, sealers, base coats, and clear coats using spray guns and other refinishing tools.
Inspect completed paint work for quality, coverage, and color accuracy before final delivery.
Maintain and clean paint booth, tools, and spray equipment regularly.
Follow proper safety and environmental procedures when handling hazardous materials.
Assist with blending, touch-ups, and paint-related repairs as needed.
Communicate effectively with estimators and technicians to ensure timely workflow.
Perform all duties safely and responsibly to prevent injury or damage.
Attend daily production and release meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience in automotive painting or collision repair required.
Strong understanding of color mixing, refinishing techniques, and paint application processes.
Ability to identify paint defects and perform corrective work.
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Reliable work history and consistent attendance.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
