The Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club is on the hunt for a hard working, experienced, detail-oriented, and self-starting Head Janitor/Maintenance Manager for our Bucktown, Chicago location.
We are looking for someone who is diligent, self-motivated and proactive to oversee the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall upkeep of our facility.
This role is crucial for ensuring that our bar remains a squeaky clean, extra safe, welcoming space for both our staff and our guests.
You’ll be responsible for managing day-to-day cleaning operations, coordinating maintenance tasks, and ensuring the bar is in tip-top condition to keep the show running smoothly night after night. This job has a very active physical component that requires standing for long periods of time and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Responsibilities include:
-Conducting thorough daily walkthroughs, inspecting and taking action on any items requiring maintenance or cleaning.
-Coordinating with management for any maintenance issues that require outside services.
-Maintaining a working schedule of daily, weekly and monthly cleaning duties.
-Completing daily cleaning of the building including: mopping and sweeping floors and courts, sanitizing bathrooms, cleaning bar mats, booths, rugs and the roof, dusting ledges/fixtures and random decor, just generally making the place shine
-Keeping track of inventory and ordering cleaning/maintenance supplies.
-Communicating with managers and contractors to provide access to the building and help oversee repairs.
-Providing daily access for deliveries, stock any deliveries and store invoices.

The following experience is preferred (but not required for the right person):
-Experience in building maintenance, janitorial work, or facilities management, (preferably in a bar or hospitality setting).
-Knowledge of basic building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) and general maintenance procedures.
-Strong understanding of sanitation and safety standards in the hospitality industry.
-Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
-The ability to work collaboratively with staff, vendors, and management.
-Ability to work independently and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
-Ability to perform minor repairs (e.g., fixing leaky faucets, replacing light fixtures).
