DUTIES
· Assist with the preparation, production, and organization of trial materials and other case file documents, (e.g. copying, binding, printing, collating, organizing, and drafting).
· Assist with preparation for client and witness interviews, depositions, and/or client meetings, hearings, and trials.
· Maintain procedures for overseeing and facilitating communication flow for the firm, including all mail intake, shipping, and communications with vendors and clients
· Assist attorneys with management and organization of paper and electronic case files, including communication to attorneys of any complications or issues so the matter can be quickly addressed
· File electronic pleadings and court documents in Cook County as well as the Northern District of Illinois
· Alongside the managing partners, track and manage invoicing and billing for clients and vendors.
· Perform manual and electronic searches using external systems and internal databases (e.g., MyCase, Relativity, SharePoint, Lexis), as well as manage databases in accordance with firm standards
· Manage and organize office supplies for the firm and assist in preparing workspaces for client visits.
· Maintain and update the firm calendar and court deadlines for all attorneys, providing docketing and scheduling support for cases
· Perform general reception-related duties for incoming calls and arriving guests.
· Handle additional related projects as assigned and requested
EDUCATION (ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING)
· Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree, law or related field
· Paralegal college program completed
QUALIFICATIONS
· Paralegal certification or equivalent experience
SKILLS
· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
· Great attention to detail and ability to easily distinguish nuances
· Pro-active problem-solving skills to quickly and efficiently reach resolutions
· Performs well independently, as well as with a team setting
· Proficiency with Microsoft products, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint
· Exceptional organization skills and time management skills
COMPENSATION
· $20-$25 per hour (based on experience)
· In addition to hourly base pay, a scaled bonus program based on net revenue generated from any billed and collected client work performed by employee.
POSITION TYPE
· Full-time/40 hours per week. Work will be on-site at our offices, with the possibility for a transition to hybrid work 3-6 months after hiring.
