About Us:
R.A. Private Investigation & Security, Inc. is a fast-growing agency based in the Chicago, IL area with regional and nationwide expansion in the works. Due to the increasing work volume, we are looking to hire surveillance investigators to primarily cover the Chicagoland area and occasionally travel to other cities in Illinois and surrounding states. The position we are looking to fill is part-time / as-needed basis with the possibility of transitioning to full-time.
Surveillance investigators collect evidence and gather intelligence in order for our clients to defend their cases. A career as a surveillance investigator is gratifying, exciting, and fast-paced. Every day is a new adventure, and the right person will be inquisitive, tenacious, independent, and flexible. Experience in the field is highly preferred, though some additional training is available.

Job Duties:
Conduct surveillances on cases involving injury, domestic dispute, workman’s compensation, and crime
Locate, follow (on foot and/or in a vehicle), and videotape individuals as they go about their daily activities
Create strategies before the surveillance based on case details, location, and previous findings of other investigators (when applicable)
Implement pretexts (when approved) to stealthily garner information on the individual and his/her location without compromising the integrity of the investigation
Gather covert video at restaurants, grocery stores, baseball games, airports, concerts, etc.
Write detailed summaries and reports on the activities observed and recorded
Communicate with the case manager on strategies and any observed activities
If desired by both the agency and applicant, the position can be expanded to encompass process serving, which involves the delivery of court documents, subpoenas, summons, evictions, and notices
Requirements:
State of Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) (or, at minimum, the ability to obtain one)
Valid driver’s license
Current car insurance
Reliable personal vehicle
Video recording equipment
Laptop
Printer
Adept driving skills
Computer access and internet connection to upload evidence into the case management system
Must be 21 years or older
Willingness to work irregular hours as needed
Ability to pass DMV check & background check
Proficient writing skills
Compensation and Benefits:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour based on experience, with average pay being
$23.00 - $27.00 per hour (all-inclusive 1099 independent contractor)
Travel pay is provided for travel time beyond 2 hours
For travel outside of 4 hours, travel pay plus room and board are provided
Reimbursement for items purchased during covert surveillances to blend into the environment (i.e., buying a meal at a restaurant that the individual being followed is dining at)
Pay guaranteed for a minimum of 4 hours per surveillance if no activity of the individual is observed
Bonus(es) provided based on high performance and results
