2:30 pm - 11:45 pm.

Starting Rate : $20.15

The Line Assistant Supervisor’s core responsibilities include the following: (1) assures that line operates efficiently, (2) assures that line operations comply with product specification and food safety principles (SSOP, GMP, HACCP, BRC clauses and USDA regulations), (3) assures that schedules are met, (4) assures that movement of materials are properly coordinated with inventory control department, (5) assures that data capture is properly and accurately performed, (6) detects, corrects and reports line errors before they leave the facility, (7) assures that proper direction and instruction are given to line workers (8) participates in improvement of quality and operations, (9) provides OJT (On The Job Training) to line workers as needed, (10) documents daily packing and/or production data and distributes paperwork to designated personnel.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Efficient line operation: Properly sets up lines and makes sure that the throughput is acceptable. Assists in the diagnoses of obstacles to throughput by properly assigning personnel, maintaining order and removing obstacles to accomplishment. Implements corrective actions. Instructions technique.

2. Compliance with Specification Food Safety: Assures personnel follow food safety principles and that the work area will not create hazards. Assures conformity to SSOP, to GMP, & to USDA regulations. Assures that only the correct product and packaging are brought to the line.

3. Meeting packing and production schedules: Assures that product is manufactured and/or packed according to the scheduled priorities and requirements. Advises shift manager of system issues that require correction.

4. Material movement: Coordinates with Inventory Control and directs line personnel in the timely movement of raw materials and finished goods between inventory areas and the line. Assures that partial containers are properly closed, stored, and not mixed; being returned to their proper location in an orderly manner.

5. Data capture: Assures the correct codes, quantities and PEs are entered into the system so that there are no inventory errors and traceability problems. Takes corrective action as necessary and reports all errors to the production manager in a timely manner.

6. Line error detection: Monitors line activity to assure that errors are detected when they start to occur. Reports errors to production management. Takes sound and thorough corrective action.

7. Proper direction and instruction: Assigns and shifts personnel, as needed, to accomplish objectives; advises line workers in execution to improve performance. Keeps line motivated and focused. Assures that all floor documentation is complete and correct before it is submitted. Inform line workers about unique information or requirements and why they are important. Advises shift manager about unique problems. Advises immediate supervisor of setbacks and contributes to solutions so that schedules can be salvaged.

8. Improvement of quality and operations: Actively participates in the identification of problems and the development of solutions involving quality and line operations.

9. Provides OJT Training: Instructs personnel in the proper execution of packing and/or production details, as needed, so that all line personnel understand and perform their jobs safely and efficiently.

10. Reinforcement and discipline: Takes care to positively reinforce good working behaviors and advises production supervision and management of the need to administer discipline of poor behaviors in keeping with disciplinary action guidelines. Expects conformity to company policies and guidelines.

11. Documentation: Assures all production reports are filled out correctly with accurate information.

12. Assist Supervisors and Shift Managers in all major capacities required executing a smooth operation.

13. Regular/Predictable Attendance: To maintain a safe and productive work environment, expects employees to be reliable and to be punctual in reporting for scheduled work. Absenteeism and tardiness place a burden on other employees and affect the company’s ability to control the quality and the production of a safe and wholesale product. Abuse of the attendance policy will result in disciplinary action.

Note: An Assistant Supervisor is a supervisor in training. They are expected to perform Supervisor tasks and responsibilities under the training of a supervisor or a manager. The training will consist of technical skills as well as soft skills (i.e. dealing with employee relations). Assistant Supervisors will be under evaluation and placed on a time-track to eventually become a Department Supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

High School Diploma or experiential equivalent desired.

Must be able to read in English well enough to follow the schedule

Must be able to write in English well enough to fill out records

Must be able to speak English well enough to train English-speaking workers.

Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.

Ability to adapt to change and accept responsibility well.

Able to handle constructive criticism.

Able to closely follow instructions.

Good organizational and interpersonal skills

Ability to handle multiple responsibilities.

Cooperative and able to function in a team setting.

Ability to train, direct, and motivate personnel.

Good general familiarity with Food Safety, GMP, and SSOP.
