The child care worker shall ensure that the nursery and classroom are safe, clean, warm
and welcoming to parents and children who use it on Sunday mornings. The worker will
lovingly care for the babies and toddlers in the room on Sunday mornings, and supervise
any assistants. The role of welcome is essential in that the child care room is sometimes
the first point of contact for newcomers in the church.
Essential Functions:
1. Arrive promptly each Sunday morning and be ready to work from 10 am to 12 pm.
2. Check with supervisor to see what is expected for that day
3. Make sure the room is clean; tables are wiped down and disinfected.
4. Greet parents and children. Ensure all children are signed in with emergency
contact information.
5. Make sure the classroom is stocked with snacks, supplies, and toys.
6. Provide a loving, safe and caring environment when children are in your care. Play
with and read to children.
7. Communicate to parents with each child’s experience for the day during pick up.
8. Fill out forms and let supervisor know if any incidents happen.
9. Clean classroom and put away toys before leaving for the day.
10. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed, bonded professional child care provider
Back Ground check and references check
Openness and support of a wide variety of family diversity in congregation
Completion of online training through AAU Safe Congregation (within 60 days of hire)
Able to move freely throughout building, lifting up to 30 pounds as needed (or with
accommodations)
