This is an entry level position.
General Summary:
Responsible for performing all accounts payable and receivable transactions, general ledger input, financial statement printing and related functions for the ATC’s resident trust fund accounts in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles as well the fiscal directives set mandates by the Illinois Department of Corrections; and provide backup to the security, program, and administrative staff members of the adult transition center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Interface and Service Tracking, Document, and Reporting
-Submit for positive pay to BOA bank’s Cash Pro feature all requests for disbursements received.
-Submit requests received from ATC resident for a stop payment of individual disbursement.
-Accounts receivable: verify batch retrieved and accurately post to the correct chart of accounts: submit daily batch for remote deposit to bank: all cash receipts to be deposited weekly into bank for processing: process any receivables returned from bank due to NSF.
-Accounts Payable: review for accuracy disbursements request on behalf of the ATC resident and process.
-Participate in the internal and external fiscal audit process derived from the IDOC directives as they pertain to the resident trust fund accounts.
-Present monthly to new ATC residents how their trust funds accounts are safeguarded and maintained and what their direct responsibilities are to ensure this.
-Submit monthly report directly to supervisor on individual work performances and goal activities that are tracked to ensure deadlines are met.
-Maintain an accurate financial analysis to include accounts payable and receivable on all ATC residents accounts.
-Accurately input and post financial data to be retrieved from the resident’s individual ledger account.
-Void payable entries that have reached their ninety-day void status.
-Payables that have reached the IDOC dormant funds status should be transferred to IDOC as residents no longer residing at the ATC but have individual fund balances, per the IDOC fiscal directives.
-Performs reconciliation of individual resident accounts to complete the closing of their account upon parole and or revocation.
-Input journal voucher entries when the specific financial activity warrants such.
-Fiscal reporting: distribute and retain for IDOC fiscal audit compliance referencing the following reports: trail balance, receipt, and check reports; general ledgers.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Requires detail orientation, organization, excellent computer skills (Word, Excel and mainframe software) and proficiency in problem solving.
-Knowledge of financial systems and computerized accounting software packages (I.e. Microix and MIPS/Abila).
-Experience in financial close cycle responsibilities as it relates to AP processing for ATC clients, trial balances.
-Ability to work independently, multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced environment to accomplish deadlines while ensuring compliance.
Education and Experience:
-Associate degree in accounting/Business and /or at least 2-3 years equivalent work experience in accounts payable and receivable.
