Job Title: Commercial Lines Account Manager

Reports To: CEO

Position Summary:

The primary function of this position is to provide quality service to clients. The Commercial Lines Account Manager will be the day-to-day liaison between the insurance company, agent and their clients. Daily servicing of clients will include addressing various coverage issues and handling all the inside service work associated with the clients account, including all endorsement activity, routine coverage questions, problem solving, renewals, checking and binding of policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities of the Commercial Lines Account Manager will include, but not be limited to:

Build and maintain relationships with clients and carriers.

Provide consistent, accurate and timely communication to clients through, verbal and written

correspondence.

Inform and educate clients about coverage, exclusions and exposures; document electronic files accordingly.

Maintain client files in TAM accurately and consistently documenting conversations, sending confirmations

to clients and insure Activity Report is updated during or immediately after the discussion with client.

Immediately notify carrier of incidents and/or claims.

Process daily incoming emails, mail and phone requests, responding promptly and appropriately including

updating voicemail message.

Utilize Microsoft Outlook to maximize daily efficiency.

Needs to know what each carrier pays in commissions per coverage line and product.

Handle cancellations with care and acts to save accounts (if applicable) and notifies producer.

Assist with preparing proposals and applications, submit to insureds and carriers (or marketing

department); follow up to ensure timely responses.

Provide technical support to Producers (coverage-wise, with proposal, suspense items, etc.) to help clients.

Assist clients in making appropriate coverage changes; inform and educate clients about coverages,

exclusions, exposures and audits and document electronic file accordingly.

Process new business and renew and re-market accounts 60 days in advance.

Required to cross sell to increase new business growth.

Review claims reports by Carriers on a monthly basis.

Needs to know all commercial carriers and wholesalers preferences, contacts and log into all carrier websites

to pull reports.

Understand SIAA annual carrier goals.

Occasionally accompanies producer on prospect or client meetings.

Orders and issues binders, certificates, policies, endorsements and other related items; verifies their

accuracy; forwards them to client with appropriate correspondence.

Reviews audits of policies; verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections, as needed, between client and carrier.

Determines if agency or direct billing and invoices accordingly. If its an agency bill account, enter the

premium into the system and forward accounting company invoice for further processing by their

department.

Sets priorities and manages work flow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and

other responsibilities.

Set up finance contracts with our finance company and help negotiate rates when applicable.

Process and track fees as required.

Complete 1 TAM webinar per quarter.

Complete 2 Insurance CED per year.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Understanding of commercial insurance underwriting, coverage and rate analysis.

Knowledge of insurance coverages and an ability to communicate this clearly to clients and underwriters.

Keeps informed regarding industry information and new product information.

Must be able to adequately communicate verbally and in writing.

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel & Outlook).

Very detailed and process oriented.

Motivated, organized, prioritize and self-manage work load.

Ability to work in a team environment, with a positive attitude and willingness to help others.

Maintain professional appearance.

Bi-lingual in English & Spanish preferred.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

2+ years of college a plus.

Minimum 5 years experience as a Commercial Lines Account Manager and currently holding a P&C license

required.

CIC, CPCU and/or CISR designations preferred.

5+ years of experience handling Account Management-Marketing of Property & Casualty premiums from

$500 to $300,000.

Experience with TAM software preferred.

Previous experience working in an independent insurance agency preferred

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment

such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files,

open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
