The Field Installation Technician is the face of our company and requires excellent communication skills paired with agility and technical ability. The position involves completing customer installations, service visits, on-site troubleshooting and equipment recovery. The work is both technical and physical. Work is performed on site at customer locations. Our company serves the northeastern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin area.
Work Environment:
Work takes place both outdoors and indoors. While some work is performed inside homes and business, other work may take place in precarious places that can include roofs, silos and towers. We are a family oriented company and understand the need for a work schedule with some flexibility, however but a technician must be available for "call out" weekend duties.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs.
· Ability to climb a ladder and work at heights up to 170 feet.
· Ability to work in the infrastructure of a home, including attics and crawl spaces.
· Ability to work in commercial and industrial environments with professionalism.
· Ability to work in all weather conditions including those that are inclement.
· Must be able to use tools to install equipment.
Key Technical Responsibilities: installing Internet equipment, as well as programming network devices and updating databases
· Perform site surveys for potential customers to evaluate serviceability.
· Diagnose customer problems at service calls and restore functional service to existing customers.
· Install Internet service for new customers, which includes mounting equipment at roof height, running Cat5-E cable from outside equipment to the customer’s router location inside.
· Configure routers and customer devices/computers for access to Internet services.
· Perform equipment upgrades for existing customers.

Qualifications:
· Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
· Professional dress, speech, and manner.
· Ability to work independently, using sound judgement principles.
· Have a work vehicle such as a van, truck, SUV.
· Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Field experience preferred and a background in wireless Internet is highly valued. Will train you if need be.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour to start commensurate with experience with the ability to earn up to and beyond $30.00 per hour.
