A fabrication company requires the services of a full time laboratory assistant. Laboratory Assistant will support Scientists and other lab professionals. Their primary duties include setting up lab equipment, analyzing and cataloging samples and performing some clerical work.
Lab Assistant duties and responsibilities
Checking equipment and stock levels and ordering supplies as required.
Sterilizing, calibrating and setting up lab equipment.
Labelling, sorting and storing lab samples.
Monitoring and reporting on experiments when required
Disposing of waste and storing lab equipment after use.
Performing laboratory testing.
Clerical tasks including printing and filing reports and data entry.
Lab Assistant skills and qualifications.
Lab Assistants use technical and clerical skills to accurately and efficiently perform their tasks. A successful Lab Assistant candidate will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications that typically include:
- Thorough knowledge of lab health and safety practices, including waste disposal.
- Clerical skills including filing, data entry and phone manner.
- Verbal and written communication skills, including comprehension for answering inquires, understanding tasks and writing reports.
- Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, or other word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Compensation/Benefits:
$27 - $29 hourly rates based on experience
