JOB SUMMARY: The Safety Technician is a key member of the Safety Department, responsible for supporting safety compliance and documentation processes. This role involves meticulous management of safety records, ensuring that safety protocols are effectively implemented and maintained. The Safety Technician collaborates with the Safety Manager to facilitate training sessions, conduct audits, and maintain comprehensive reporting systems. By effectively organizing safety documentation and promoting a culture of safety within the organization, the Safety Technician plays a critical role in advancing workplace safety initiatives and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Generate and distribute the Axonify Participation Report to track training engagement and compliance.
2. Conduct and document Machine Guarding and Supervisor Checklist Reports to ensure adherence to safety standards.
3. Manage the Work Order Tracker by organizing document filing and updating spreadsheets to maintain accurate records and follow up if tasks are not completed in time.
4. Perform comprehensive Parking Audits to assess compliance with safety protocols.
5. Conduct thorough Door Audits to evaluate security measures and access controls.
6. Facilitate Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training sessions, including proctoring assessments and delivering instructional materials.
7. Assist in the onboarding process by conducting safety orientations for new employees.
8. Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations and organizational policies.
9. Assist in the development, implementation, and review of safety policies and procedures.
10. Participate in safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
11. Support the Safety Manager in safety initiatives and training programs to enhance workplace safety culture.
12. Support the Safety Manager in organizing and executing emergency response drills and safety awareness campaigns.
13. Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes related to workplace safety and food manufacturing.
14. Assist in the development and dissemination of safety communication materials, including safety bulletins and newsletters.
15. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate safety incidents and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
16. Participate in safety committees and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety practices within the facility

GENERAL QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Associates degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred and or 2 years of experience.
Previous experience in safety management or technician roles, preferably in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations, food safety standards, and best practices in workplace safety.
Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Bilingual required
Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.
Ability to adapt to change and accepts responsibility well.
Able to handle constructive criticism.
Able to closely follow instructions.
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
Cooperative and able to function in a team setting.
Ability to train, direct, motivate and personnel.
Good general familiarity with Food Safety, GMP, and SSOP.
Job requires the ability to physically stand for most of the working hours.
Job requires the frequent exposure to cold temperatures in refrigerated environment and/or freezers.
Must have a strong commitment to safe manufacturing practices.
Ability to work overtime, extended days including weekends as required.
Beginning level of computer skills in Microsoft Office products.
