Fiberglass Furniture Fabricator

We are looking for an experienced craftsman to work in our factory where we make outdoor fiberglass furniture. We are looking for someone who would like to consider themself an artisan and become an expert at multiple crafts.

Zachary A. Design is a designer and manufacturer of high end outdoor furniture. The products range from side tables and stools, to large dining tables. Our products are made to look like stone, but are lightweight due to their fiberglass construction.

You will work with a team in the production of fiberglass furniture from initial prep work through the finishing and packing of pieces.

Details:

A background in fabrication, auto body work, construction, carpentry, composite materials, or related fields is advantageous but not a requirement. Experience using hand tools is a necessity.

You can expect working with resin and fiberglass to be messy but we will provide you with all of the proper and necessary personal protective equipment and tools so that you can work safely and efficiently.

You should be comfortable working to meet tight deadlines with a strong attention to detail to your work. You should be comfortable managing multiple projects at once and able to plan your time according to the priority of those orders.

Our goal is to hire someone who can learn our manufacturing processes quickly and grow into a trusted role within the team. We are a small company and we each take on many responsibilities. You should expect to need to be flexible with your tasks. For example you might be sanding a table and then need to drop what you are doing and help pack an order.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Production process tasks include but would not be limited to;

-Grind, patch, sand seams, finishing, and washing of pieces.

-Install any necessary hardware or customizations; glides, umbrella holes, threaded inserts, etc.

-Wash pieces; both with soap/water and acetone to prepare for final stages.

-Cutting and finishing of material samples

-Note that a lot of the responsibilities of this role are similar to that of working in a body shop.

Additional tasks include;

-Prepare materials to be used in production processes.

-Move materials and in-process orders throughout the facility.

-Build shipping crates and pack completed orders.

-Understand the expected quality of Zachary A. furniture and work to limit defects.

-Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized workspace

-Maintain tools; for example changing blades on machines.

-Keep track of material inventory and re-stock production materials when needed.

-Maintain a clean and orderly production floor. This includes cleaning, sweeping, removing trash, and organizing tools and equipment.

-Communicate about project status, troubleshooting, and expected completion dates.

-Ability and willingness to train new employees.

Qualifications & Requirements:

-Able to work 40 hours per week.

-Physically able to lift objects (typically 20-75lbs) and be on your feet for long periods of time.

-Able to work quickly and accurately in a production environment.

-Able to work independently, as a team, and under direction.

-Experience with general shop equipment and tools; table saw, angle grinder, orbital sander, drills, air tools, etc. is required.

-Experience in a factory, construction, furniture fabrication, carpentry, or auto body work is preferred, as is experience with composites and plastics, making molds, sculpture, faux painting. Other relevant experience will be considered.

-Able to read and communicate necessary production processes via shop drawings.

-Eye for detail and a sense for quality construction.

-A working knowledge of English is necessary. Spanish is also spoken on our floor.

Salary and Benefits:

-$25/hr
