Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

Dispatch Operations Management:

Plan, organize, and oversee the dispatch of drivers and vehicles to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.

Assign routes and schedules to drivers based on delivery priorities, traffic conditions, and customer requirements.

Monitor driver progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet delivery deadlines.

Communication and Coordination:

Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing guidance and support throughout their routes.

Communicate with customers to provide updates on delivery statuses and resolve any issues or concerns.

Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, customer service, and maintenance, to ensure seamless operations.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including hours-of-service (HOS) rules.

Promote and enforce safety protocols to minimize accidents and ensure driver and vehicle safety.

Maintain accurate records of driver logs, vehicle inspections, and other compliance-related documentation.

Problem-Solving:

Address and resolve issues such as driver delays, vehicle breakdowns, or route changes in real-time.

Handle customer complaints and service disruptions professionally and efficiently.

Team Leadership:

Supervise and train dispatch staff, ensuring they are knowledgeable about company policies and procedures.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve team efficiency.

Foster a positive and productive work environment.

Technology and Tools:

Utilize dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and other tools to optimize routing and monitor driver performance.

Generate reports on key performance metrics, such as on-time delivery rates and fuel efficiency.

Cost Management:

Monitor fuel usage, maintenance costs, and other operational expenses to ensure cost-effective operations.

Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in dispatch operations, transportation, or logistics management.

Skills:

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in dispatch software and GPS tracking systems.

Problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
